According to the French site DVDRama (http://www.dvdrama.net/news.php3?4008) Miramax want to cut 30mins out of the film and change the core/soundtrack into a rap soundtrack!!!
This seems rather unbelievable to me & it is a small rumour, so i'm not expecting anything until I see official news on the release, but let's all pray that none of the above happens! :(

Ok, i don't speak French :(, so i've had to use one of them French - English translators, but i'd imagine this is close to what that page on DVDRama says:
What one feared soon will occur Miramax which ensures the output cinema of Shaolin Soccer the United States, will propose the head of work of Stephen Chow Sing-Chi in half an hour a version cut down. And as if that were not enough, the film will be doubled (dubbed?), but moreover, the formidable music of origin will be replaced by rap!
After the rotted versions of Black Mask and Drunken Master, Shaolin Soccer also passes to the moulinette Miramax, which is placed as a worthy successor of Rene Château (remember films of Bruce Lee which did not exceed 90 minutes). Shame on them!
Beginning of the massacre on the US screens on April 5, 2002.

I will be grateful for any corrections made to this translation by the French speaking members of this forum. ;)
Just remember this is only a rumour, i see no evidence to support the claims, so don't send Disney too many hate mails! :D

They can't cut 30 mins out...It's not like it's a 3 hour epic with room to lose half an hour.

Well, SS is 112mins long, so 30mins of cuts would bring it in at 82mins, but regardless of the run time you're right that there isn't 30mins of footage that can be cut without making the film a complete mess! I don't believe this report, but i could believe that Disney will change the soundtrack.
Why do they even buy these movies - why not just do a remake??

there is still some light, as Miramax might not be distributing to Europe (HKL or any other company who respect cinema please buy the rights. So the f@@@'s at miramax or di$ney don't get the chance to release their abomanation )
