Hello All,

Interested in the above Flat screens and equally divided by them both at the moment.

Anyone got any advice or opinions? I watch a lot of movies but gaming would be a nice option.

I have no intention of upgrading, unless its broken.

I like the design of the Sony.

Thanks

Kind regards

What he said! The plasma will give you deeper blacks, more realistic colours, crisper motion and a wider viewing angle. And because it's a Pioneer, you get incredible built-in image processing to squeeze every last drop of quality from any source. The only area in which the Sony beats the Pioneer is its full 1080p resolution, but don't be fooled by the marketing hype. At 42" and under, from a normal viewing distance 1080p is virtual indistinguishable from 720p. In fact I guarantee you that a full 1080p image on the Sony won't look as good as the same image downscaled to 720p on the Pioneer.

Perhaps for some more object reviews/opinions you could try a site like:
http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/

He has reviewed both sets both are VERY good and neither is perfect :dork:

Hope that helps,
Shye

P.S. I have a Pioneer ;)

If you're talkiing pic quality then neither of these comes anywhere close to the Philips 429632.

I have seen both the Kuro and the Bravia but the Philips pic is just better no matter how many places I see them.

I've been looking at the Samsung F96 and the moment they bring one out under 50" then I'm all over it but during my research I've been following the sony X3000/X3500 thread over at avforums.
The amount of unsatisfied owners there complaining about smearing, blurring, fan-noise, clouding ... (the list goes on) put me off these tv's immediately.

Out of the choices that you have given I would definitely go for the pioneer.

i have the pioneer...worth every penny and beats the sony lcd (with samsung panel i think) hands down....i just dont lcd's....they are fine for static pics or pc's...as for 1080p, its just marketing imo for a screen this size....if you are going for a 50in+ screen then 1080p may be worth it, but then it depends on the quality of the components in the set and what sources you have....currently as everyone knows the sources are limited to er blu ray and hd-dvd and er...not sure but i heard that even ps3 games dont currently run at 1080p...no idea if thats true tho as i dont have a ps3

i compared a both 37in sets from panasonic the 1080p 1920x1080 lcd and the seemingly low res 1024x768 plasma....both running same blu ray disk and couldnt tell the difference in terms of resolution...in fact imo i felt the plasma looked better and more natural with deeper colours/blacks....same on sky hd despite the plasmas resolution handicap, when it came to standard def...no competition the plasma won hands down

Niether, get the Samsung F86 LCD, its the danglies :)

i looked for 2 tv's for almost 12 months and have seen most tv's 37-50in on the market......very unimpressed with 95% of LCD's, esp samsung's as i before viewing the samsung i did like the look of them in the pictures/mags, but seeing the samsung's up close...oh dear, fisher price quality and overprocessed pictures, terrible blacks and poor standard definition pictures, esp sports....i dont and wont have sky hd - i despise sky after the way they treated me as a customer (took 3 months and 9 attempts to install sky!!), blu ray looked ok....i then looked at the panasonic plasma and thought this is miles better, then saw the kuro and it took me 10 secs to decide with a big gulp as 1500 is alot for a 42in tv but its well worth it!

The only lcd's worth bothering imo are the pansonic 32in 100hz ones and their 37in 100hz one or the Loewe 37in (but thats a crazy £1500!!) but i still didnt think were as good as the pansonic 37in plasma

Thought the Sony was as good but the Kuro blew them away. Problem is sometimes Phillips produce some decent stuff.....but reliability has always been a problem.....when i bought my 32in CRT, Phillips produced some fantastic tv's, but they had a lot of problems with them breaking down
