If you ring them up and say you broke it (ie spilt coffee on it or something) They'll bill you for around £220 and don't want it back.
Just make sure you don't spill too much coffee (if any)
costly but easy...

I phoned up to cancel mine a few months back and the woman basically begged me to keep it and now they only charge me £3 a month, but i'd only get the free channels.
So i said O.K, i'll give it to my mum then as i didn't want it.
6 months later it's still got all the premium channels including Premier, Moviemax, Sky sports....
They have supposed to have stopped doing that offer where you keep the box for £3 per month.
Not surprising with all the dodgy cards around.
My subscription ended earlier this month. They have killed the card.I still get the free channels though. There was no way i was paying over 20% more than last year (and i got a free portable TV thrown in with the £99 1 year deal last year)
I'm still waiting to hear about collecting the box (keeping fingers crossed that they don't bother collecting it ;) )
What do they do with the old boxes ????
You always get a new one when you subscribe !!!!
Simes - so what happened. You got the letter to say your time was up and you rang up and said ok.
Did they say they would send information on when they would collect the box??? How do they arrange it to be picked up???
My prepaid box ran out in July. I got Sky then which I think is miles better. They sent me a couple of letters asking me to ring up and arrange a new subscription. I ignored everything. Eventually they sent me a letter saying it was going to be collected on 2nd Jan and they did.
I didn't mind, as I only used it to watch ITV in widescreen and that is on Sky now.:)
Also, the last letter I got, virtually accused me of using a pirate card!

They just sent a letter saying the subscription "will run out in around 10 days time"
It said the new price for the 6 primary channel pack is £144 for the year.
Only a 44% increase
Though if i paid before within 2 weeks i could renew for £119 ...still a 20% increase and no free portable TV like i got last year.
So i naturally decided not to get ripped off.
I didn't contact them , but the card was switched off at the end of the year.
I am just waiting to see when they contact me about collecting ther box. I figure if i don't contact them it may take longer. My daughter likes the kids TV on BBC Choice ,so the longer i keep the box the better :D
I might buy one of the £99 Pace boxes if they collect mine.
but what if they already have your card details? i forked mine over for the privelage of a free month of sky sports, so it wouldnt surprise me if they just started billing me without my permission - anyone have any experience of this?

That would represent an unauthorised transaction, image if HMV decided to charge all credit card customers £1 per month for usage of their air conditioned factilities...
If anything like that ever did happen, you just notify your credit card company of fraudulant transactions that you know nothing about. I seriously doubt that ITV digital would resort to doing anything like that!

My prepay finished last year and they had my card details too. They'd billed me for an extra month when the year was up and they didnt turn up on the arranged day to pick up the box. When I chased them for a refund (which took a couple of months) they said that they were deducting £2-3 because the box hadnt been returned on time.:brickwall
I did get the full amount back in the end though.
There was no way i was letting them have my card details..
Look at the fiasco with the ON-7 magazine.Where you had to tell them you didn't want it or they just added it to your bill. This even made it onto Watchdog.
This is why i hate these credit card continuous authorisations. You have no control to stop them taking money. And no safeguards if they do. At least with direct debit you are guaranteed your money back.
if i was to tell my cc co that my card was lost and a new one was sent they wouldnt be able to authorise money, right?

The credit card would be cancelled, and no further authorisations would be made. The card and the number on it would be useless, so if you have pre-orders made elsewhere, they too would not go through.
Don't worry, if you tell them you no longer want the box, they won't charge you.
Then again, I've just remembered that I signed up to get Sky Premier and FilmFour for a £1 in the first month. I rang up to cancel within the month so that I didn't have to pay the full price on the following months, they ran the cancellation through a day late, so I was billed for the channels even though I could no longer watch them. An angry phone call ensured that I had the money refunded within a few days...
All the same, don't go cancelling your card because of what *might* happen. It's the same as cancelling your card everytime you go out, just in case you get mugged along the way!

I sent my cancellation letter 2-3 days after recieving my box and they still said it was a day late. A bit suspect if you ask me.
They refunded the money, a bit annoying.

Would you believe that in addition to my above post, the exact same thing happened to me as well.
I signed up with Sky yesterday, hopefully things will go smoother with them.
