not strictly true

apparently Windows will detect the ipod as a 5 gig firewire drive which can be uploaded to - including mp3s for playback

there is also a version of the mac drivers being worked on for the PC.

You would need to have a firewire card in the PC (modern Macs have them, most PCs don't)

I did say at the moment, but for 3 & half big ones I'd want full functionality...

The PC can recognise it as an external firewire drive, but you can't just upload the mp3s - they are hidden files!

Someone is working on PC software to make it work though.

Apple stuff isn't generally discounted, so you won't find it for much less than the RRP.
