I have a Toshiba HD DVD player on the way and would like to know if there are any hacks or firmware changes I can make to enable playback of R1 dvd's.

You'll need to confirm the model number... but some players can have firmware flashed to allow R1 playback of some R1 titles.

The EP30 is the one.
How do I get the update?
What titles will play?

There's no region hack for the EP30 at the moment.
There are already loads of posts on this subject.

I'm sure there are loads of posts regarding dvd hacks within a great many other hddvd threads, but if you think I'm going to trawl through them all you are mistaken
Doing a search results in stuff thats months out of date

A quick search for "EP30 Hack" in this forum, then a quick look through the last page of the only thread to come up (except this one) reveals the answer.
Dont worryThe hack is quite easy, just burn the firmware HD-E1 and run that disc in your EP30, should work and if it doesnt at least post on here to tell us all what happened.
