Quite a nice selection of BOGOF HD-DVD titles at Amazon.com including Harry Potter 1 to 4 and Hot Fuzz.

Amazon HD-DVD Offer - While Stocks Last (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=25)

The link doesn't always seem to work - but the offer is available as a clickthrough from the main Amazon page. Refresh until it appears.

Do not order items together from Amazon if over the 18 quid limit. Customs target Amazon quite fiercely.

2 $20 hd-dvds is only just over a tenner with this offer..but amazon mark up the package to the value of both discs rather than the price you've paid :(

royal mail most of the time as these are small packages - order in pairs do not add all four into the basket at once, there will not be much difference in the postage fee

Excuse my ignorance here, but HD is region free right, I understand that, but do you still have the PAL-NTSC or is that something different

No.

All HD DVD's will play on any HD DVD player.

I realise that :) I was referring more to the 24fps v 30fps Pal speed up etc, is that irrelevant in HD? say I bought a HD disc from the US and one from the UK, would they be identical in every way.

Nice spot, did I read on the forums in another thread you can change how you are billed at amazon to £ somehow ?

The answer is yes - the only differences are when playing SD disks. The more recent hardware can play film sourced NTSC material at 24 fps, but can't do that with PAL disks. Which is a big shame for me since 50% of my collection is R1 and therefore won't play on my EP35 (yet) :suspect:

If the player and television allow it then they can be output like that (or sometimes a multiple like 3 x 24 i.e. 72Hz). Otherwise it'll be output at 50/60Hz by internal processing before being displayed by the television.

There may be differences between say a U.S. and UK disk though due to different encoding; for example, the UK version of the movie Serenity (compared to its U.S. counterpart). In theory, a distributor of a particular movie in one country compared to another could use a different master as well.

I cant believe the number of threads re this offer on various forums.

Amazon will mark the full cost of both HD DVD's on the customs slip, which means it will show $40 which is over the customs limit. So if you take this offer up you will likely get a customs charge of around £12.

You will then have the hastle of chasing for a refund from both HMRC and the PO. Hastle hastle hastle.

If you don't want the hastle then don't order then, fairly simple.
