if i've been charged way too much as a customs charge (by parcel force) is there anyway i can get some of the money back, if i can prove how much i paid for the stuff?

sorry if this has been covered before, i looked through the pages and couldn't find anything..

i think you just contact customs. show the error and they'll refund you. at least that's what i remember reading here a while ago

Probably me that wrote it;)

I was charged duty when I shouldn't have been, contacted C&E and they said to send them the customs sticker and proof showing how much the goods actually cost - which I did with a copy of the e-mail invoice and also offered to send them a photocopy of the Credit Card statement showing the amount in £'s.

I got a cheque back about two month's later for the Import Duty and VAT, but was told I'd need to claim the collection fee off the RM myself.

How much should I have paid in customs charges if the value of the package was labelled as US$33? I think I have been overcharged because the fees came to 7 pound something. This would see about the right amount if the package was £33 but not US$.

Remember as well, that as soon as the value goes over £18 then the potential is to be charged for the whole amount, including delivery i.e. not just the amount over £18. In additional you then have that annoying admin charge.

I think it must be the extra admin charge that did it then. The total value marked on the customs label was 33 although I don't think it actually stated US$.
