ordered Phantom menace in November

Something went wrong with the order. Nothing appeared in the online orderbox but the money was taken out of my cc.

Emails did not help

Phoned them on Sun. Very nice guy apologiesed a lot and said he would post it then and there. Tues am at my doorstep

that was very fast and nice customer service (pity about the first bit)

I think I will use them again

I placed an order with them for the first time on Sunday night.
Sent them an e-mail to ask when the order would be dispatched and they replied next day. Order was sent out today

Just have to wait and see how long they take to deliver.

I know they get alot of bad press on these forums but I thought I would give them a try anyway. Their prices are unbelievable!!

Did you phone them from the UK? If so did it cost a lot?

I have used them many times..
Sometimes, they dispatch orders very late.
But once dispatched, you know that package will be in your door in one week ..

Anyway, when they have the title that you order, they'll send it in 1 or 2 days..Be sure..
But, if they haven't, you'll have to wait your order to be dispatched, maybe 2 weeks...

I like them for their great prices and their fast and free Post company...

I think i can wait for 2-3 weeks for their big prices...

I would have to disagree with this point. I have had in the past dispatch notices by e-mail and then had to wait several times over 25 days beofre the said item lands on my doorstep. Granted when shipped it is not their responsibility but if absound, devoted etc can get 5 day delivery times all the time then why shouldn't dvdimport.

Plus you have to remember that if your dvd is lost or damaged you have no come back due to dvdimport policy.

Still in the end I got my discs but I would rather use absound (www.absound.ca) now. Same kinda prices but with better delivery times and some come back on lost goods.

Ordered Silence of the Lambs SE on 7th Feb, it's still pending!
How long do they take?

Alanok

I would take a guess that they don't have Silence of the Lambs in stock so it could be pending for a while. They must not hold any back catalogue stock adn are very slow in getting stock in. Pre-orders are ususally better. I had Chasing Amy and Mallrats pending for a nearly a month before I got a shipping confirmation. Then I had to wait 20 odd days for them to get to my doorstep.

If I was you I would pay a bit extra and get it from somebody else. Far too many variables when shopping from dvdimport. Debit your card straight away, no comeback if it gets lost or damaged, take ages on back orders etc etc. Which is a shame because I find the people who work there very friendly and helpful whenever I have e-mailed them.

Used them once so far, for Disney Atlantis pre-order. No problems as such but they were slow, R1 discs from elsewhere tend to arrive before or on release date, they were about 10 days late on this one. Trouble is they're often the cheapest, and with free int. shipping it becomes an attractive option..... (single disc Atlantis cost me £12.04)

Same here, ordered Rebecca and Notorious CC around the same time as you. Got E-mail confirmations for both DVDs (I ordered them separately) and my account was debited for both shortly after.

Still nothing. :(

Won't be using them again.

I asked for a refund last year after waiting a dogs age for the Die Hard box set (don't know why I'm using them again, but there you go).

They sorted out the refund pretty quickly, but only problem was the exchange rate wasn't too clever at the time of refund so I actually lost money by not getting a DVD

Needless to say, this is <U>definitely</U> the last time I'm using this company.

I ordered American Pie 2 from DVDImport last Wednesday, it arrived on my door step last Friday, that is the fastest delivery time I have experience from an american/canadian based company.

Foxy - rang them yesterday and the guy said that they didn't have Rebecca in stock. It'll take 2 weeks for them to get it in and then they'll send me an email whenever they decide to post it!

Thanks Ronan. Looks like I'll wait then

I dunno what it is about some of these import companies that makes them completely unresponsive to E-mail. Cutting costs, I guess.

(<U>bigup</U>: I e-mailed them through the site, but that's all I can remember. They sorted out the refund pretty quickly, despite me losing a few pence in the transaction)

I've only ordered from them once, but got good service.

Emailed them to see if they had Tenchi Muyo:Ultimate Edition in, received a response the following day saying they did (allowing for the time difference this was quite prompt).

Despatched last Tuesday received today.

I'm getting sick of this. Money taken off my Barclays debit card at the start of January for 2 Criterions (Notorious and The 39 Steps).

Virtually 8 weeks and countless e-mails later and I still haven't received a response about my order. I've asked to cancel 3 times now.

Definitely the last time I use this f[<B>edited</b>]g shower.

Does anyone know if I can force a refund by going through Barclays?

My first and last time I use this company. I ordered the Die Hard Trilogy Boxset on the 29 Jan, money was taken from my credit card the next day (10/10 for efficiency in taking customers money). The order sat on pending until the 11 Feb when they finally answered my query. The website is saying that my order was posted on the 12 Feb but still no sign of it. What postal system do they use?

My biggest regret is not ordering this disc from A&B Sound. I would have received weeks ago for the same price.

Though I've not used them personally, I think for the sake of saving, in a lot of cases just a few pence in comparison with Absound and DVDBoxoffice, I don't really see the sense in using them.

In my opinion internet shopping should be about taking the aggravation and inconvenience out of purchasing goods. Don't look like DVDimport qualify on that score.

Sorry guys no cigar.

I've used them twice so far.

My first order was for a fairly minor title which had been out for about six months. It wasn't in stock, took three weeks to ship and just six days to arrive. It was a v.good price too.

My second order was a pre-order for A.I. (approx £12), it shipped yesterday 26/Feb so should be here sometime next week.

So, not too bad for me...

Famous last words mate. Do not take next week delivery for granted from DVDimport.

I really, really want to use DVD Import, but
there are always let downs when i do.

The prices are obviously great, and mostly
cheaper than elsewhere.

But..... i hate the fact that your credit card
is billed immediately, making me reluctant
to place preorders.

They also have an abysmal customer service. The
most recent problem being this week. I placed an
order for Fargo around 3-weeks ago. After it had
been stuck in pending for so long i e-mailed them
wondering if it was out of stock.... no reply.

So i left it a couple of days, and tried again. No
response. This went on until i e-mailed them
every day for 4-days, and hey presto they finally
responded. The DVD was deleted an no longer
available !

After the aggravation of lack of response, you then
have to fight to get your money back, which goes
back again to them invoicing credit cards immediately.
Why are they selling a DVD, knowing it is no longer
available, and billing cards ?

It's not the first time, and it won't be the last.

If only they dropped the pre-billing, gave a better
indication of whether or not DVD's are available, i'm
sure i'd use them more often.

When they do eventually get round to sending DVD's
they have, i generally get them in a week, no worse
than alot of other R1 suppliers.

Mark Smith.

I got the following email from DVDimport about my order which was shipped on 12 Feb.

"order # XXXXX have been shipped on Feb 12th. The delay on postal services could take up to 5 weeks, usually the package gets in Europe within 5 to 8 days but sometimes a delay is expected since distribution is made from Belgium. "

Do other peoples deliveries arrive from Belgium?

I've used them 4 times now and have had nothing but great service from them, if you ignore the early card debiting that is. I've just received A.I. this morning, that's a day early and for slightly under £12 delivered.

For pre-orders - my number one choice if you can take being stung immediately

For anything else - better off getting genital herpes as at least you know where you stand :D

I feel Its my turn to give DVD import another lashing ... Ordered Radio days on 9th May, debited my credit card on 10th May. On the 8th June sent email asking where the hell is DVD on the 9th they send me 2 emails. One saying its out of stock and 2 saying they want me to fax or scan my credit card and statement? WTF they have already charged me and they now ask me for CC details???

11th June I ask for refund ... 14th June still no answer ...

DVD import has made it onto my blacklist.

I have had two orders from DVDImport. Both were delivered fine.

One was a pre-order for AI which in retrospect I shouldn't have bothered with as within a couple of months they were discounting it in a local supermarket for 50p less than I paid. That's not DVDImport's fault though.
