Okay, this is probably a stupidly easy question, given that it’s (apparently) one of the main functions of the xbox 360, but I can’t work it out!!
I want to copy some mp3 music files and maybe some pics onto the hard drive of my new xbox, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do it.
I’ve checked on Microsoft’s website, but that just talks about ripping cd’s, which isn’t a problem.
Please help!

place a music cd into the 360 drive and it will give you options if i remember corectly has been over a year since i sold my 360
you can't copy MP3's and pictures to your hard drive
Another silly question, how do you play Divx? I put in a disk with a divX file on it (plays fine on my divx compable DVD player) but the 360 just says it a multi media disk and doens't allow me to click on the drive to play it.

Go to the video blade, press (i think) 'x' to change the destination and select the disc.

That'd be my answer then:(
Seems insanely stupid though - I've got to copy a CD containing whatever mp3 music tracks I like, then rip it back onto the xbow:brickwall
I thought there must be a way to transfer pics over though - surely people do that to create their own avatars???

no, the only way you can create your own is by using the XBox Live Vision Camera.
what you can do is use the 360 to stream music across a network from any PC either through widows media connect or windows media center.
Works well both ways. You can then use this music in games and such like which leaves more spae on your hard drive for downloading game pdates and livbe arcade games and hi def movies.
same now with divx (although that works better through windows media center) and if you record things using a windows media center pc, that will also stream and play through the x box

Ta, will give that a go.
