Would you get R1 or R2? I've already checked Rewind and I still can't decide. The R2 looks best, except it's cut and expenisve! Please could you tell me if you've watched either version and what you think of it.
Thanks,

Thanks,

Personally I'm waiting for the R1 SE which is due out sometime this year. I'm assuming this time it will be anamorphic (unlike the current R1), come with lots more extras and still cost half the price of the R2

Cuts

R2 - 7 seconds to sight of a man having his neck broken in a fight sequence in the first episode

OVERALL : Draw - What a decision! The R1 has a number of interesting extras and is uncut. However, from specs available R2 appears to be anamorphic and has 2 featurettes but the first episode is cut.

There is also another "TV Version" of the film that was made into a mini-series. 4:3 only, but fun for completists.

I have the R2 of the film, R1 of the Sci-Fi channel mini series, and the "TV Version". And I am still waiting for the "Special Edition" of the film!

I must admit I assumed the original poster was referring to the mini-series as that was cut and is expensive on R2 and so that is what my post above referred to. I have the R2 version of the film but hadn't heard anything about an SE due - do you know when?

Cheers for all your help. I might wait for the Region 1 SE. Thanks for the info Mark Bennett, but I'd already looked at rewind. :)
I did mean the mini series - sorry I forgot to mention that.

The region 4 version will be a box set with 3 DVDs in a box.
It will be the exact same as the UK set content wise but at a lower price and with different packaging.

I don't know about cuts, though. It's MGM and not Fox that is releasing the Box in Australia March 13.

Has anyone tried the Greman version?
It appears to have English 5.1 Audio at around £20 without shipping.

Devoted have Dune on pre-order for about £25.00with Free shipping to UK!! so I got my order in for that one. Watched the American Version which was not enhanced and that was really not very nice. Otherwise was really impressed.
