not sure how good a deal this is, but argos has the above showing as half price at the moment, i own the 504 80gig and great little gadget.

if you decide to collect it from store if you buy £100 worth of gift vouchers you will get a £10 voucher. Then buy £50 worth of gift vouchers and get a £5.00 voucher.

Then use all of the vouchers (£165.00) to buy the Archos and you have bought it for only £150.00.

scrap that idea!!!! When you buy the Archos with your vouchers you should get another £10.00 voucher so it will only cost £140.00?

i thought u couldn't buy vouchers with vouchers?

You can't, but the OP didnt suggest you do...

£100, get £10 free
£50 get £5 free

so you would have £165 of vouchers for a £150 spend.

You may not get given a £10 voucher when you spend the £165 though, it may depend on the store.

This looks like another Argos "bargain". I can't find any in stock anywhere in my area (Basingstoke). They must have one unit in one particular Argos store.

I'm sure argos have changed their t&c so that you cannot get a £10 voucher when you buy £100 of vouchers.

Correct, the fine print says:

This offer is not available with the purchase of Argos gift vouchers.

Yep, tried it yesterday, wouldn`t give me the vouchers, wasn`t too fused as It`s a good piece of kit. Stock is hard to find now, had the last one in the South Wales area

I was tempted, but just wondering how much the fact it appears to be the smallest HD version matters?

Are they're not 60GB, 80GB and 100GB versions out also?
The 40GB ones seem less popular (assume that's why it's cheap)

Not sure if this is a real issue?

According to the review in the current issue of 'PC Answers', the touch-screen overlay degrades the video to near VHS quality.

I've got the 604 touchscreen, and yes, the quality is a little diminished becuase of it, but I wouldn't say it's VHS quality

Even with hindsight, I'd still go for a touchscreen one

So basically you can only get £10 in vouchers to spend on another transaction?

I have one of these (the 80 gig version)

I use it every single day - watching movies, music videos, things I recorded from TV etc

It's by far one of the best things I've ever purchased, having upgraded from a previous and smaller Archos. I was looking initially for something to drop my digital photo's onto when shooting outdoors but the other features on it just make it a must

And I paid around £350 for mine

Highly recommended at that price and an absolute must at this price at Argos if you can find one...

Does anyone know if you can output to a 2nd screen whilst watching the same movie on the 704?

I want it for in car use behind two headrests for the kids in the back!

greg

If you can get their £20 voucher to work, Dabs (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=40&url=http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4LRX) have the newer generation 605 Wifi. It has a smaller screen, plus slightly smaller hdd (30GB), you can get it for about the same price as the OP (£159 after the voucher), but from the reviews I've read the PQ is excellent (and it spanks the Ipod Touch in most reviews).

I think the 605 supports Flash (incl. Youtube) whereas the 704 doesn't, although you do have to buy a £20 plugin to enable the 605 for web browsing (pfft!)

I picked one up at a local Argos (Dudley) but I found it was faulty so I had to travel 100 miles to get a replacement at the Glouchester branch. The Woman said it has gone back to the original price of £330 now, checking web site confirmed price increase.
Does any body know the best price for the Archos DVR Station?

Many thanks to OP
