For those of you who purchased the excellent Family Guy DVD and found you had problems playing some episodes, here's the responce I've just got from Fox:

>>>Thank you for your correspondence with regard to the problems you have been
experiencing with the Family Guy DVD.

Please accept our apologies in the delay in answering you email. This has
been because of the time needed to fully investigate what turned out to be a
complex problem with a number of discs.

The fault is due to an error which occurred during replication of the discs
from their original master and only affected a small percentage of the DVD's
out for sale.

We have now corrected this error and advise you to take your faulty copy to
your place of purchase and exchange it for another set.

If you have problems doing so please contact us directly and we will arrange
an alternative method of replacement as soon as possible.

Once again, thank you for informing us of this fault.

Kind regards
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment<<<

This is good news - It's one of those disks that took me by suprise with it's goodness and to be able to play all episodes with no crashing will be a joy!

What are the contact details for Fox?
Got my copy from play but don't want to risk getting another faulty version.

Cheers for the post Dagada :) I preordered this from amazon.co.uk and had trouble with the second disk on my Samsung 709 though it played fine on my LiteON DVD-Rom Drive. Can someone tell me whether there is any chance of amazon replacing this disk or should I just go straight to Fox?

I contacted Fox through their website - but be warned! It took a while for a reply to come through. Maybe someone has a customer service number for them?

With regards to Amazon or Play swapping it over - I'd send them an email quoting your original transaction number and explain what's happened. You may be lucky, but I know some places get a bit funny about swapping things over once they get over a month or so old. Still - You would have a case here as they have to provide goods that are of merchantable quality. If Fox admit that there's a problem with the disks then the DVDs sold to you originally are not able to be used for the purpose they were sold for - IE - to provide you with the full series of Family Guy of which you will be able to watch each and every episode - and hence not of merchantable quality. Seeing as Fox have now fixed the problem, they SHOULD replace the disks....

Ooooh, excellent. I'll drop Play an email later today..... I take it everyone else who has the problem only affects the school board one where the episode loops back to the start halfway through....?

Well, on my one, the DVD locks up just as they start singing "Vagina Junction", but it sounds like the same thing.

I got mine from PLAY in November but I couldn't get through to them at all on the phone and didn't get an answer to my e-mails. Then after Christmas I got through on the phone without a problem and the nice lady said I could return it without a problem (and this is a disc I've had for 2 and a half months now). Lovely.

Is everyone else getting the same problem where it seems to be one of the layers on the second disc that pretty much unreadable?

Depends on the player the disc will either:

Refuse to startup
Crash the player
Stop during on of the episodes
Pixelate

Is there any specific place that the disc fails? I've had this for a while now and still not got round to watching it. Would just like to check quickly :)
