If your'e new to Hendrix I suggest getting 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience' which is kind of a 'best of' release. The version I've got is a double CD set (with bonus disc).

Some of his stuff is quite heavy and psychodelic but you'll get used to it.

Another album you may want to look out if you're new to Hendrix is 'Experience Hendrix' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000DHZJ/o/qid=1011687499/sr=8-3/ref=sr_aps_pm_1_3/026-1808011-7158001?tag=thedvdforums-21) which again is like a 'best of'. There are many well known Hendrix tracks on there including 'Crosstown Traffic', 'Hey Joe', 'Foxy Lady', 'Purple Haze' and 'The Wind Cries Mary' as well as many others including of course 'Voodoo Chile', although it's listed as 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)'.

Correct me if I'm wrong (probably) but I could have sworn it was a cover by someone distinctly less talented, it certainly wasn't either of the versions on 'Electric Ladyland' (yes I am a fan); another CD worth buying, but probably best to get a 'best of' to check you do like the heavier stuff.
