But the single's absolute bobbins (review on Monday along with a heap of other nonsense).
The single is nothing like the rest of the album though although I do like it.
This may sound hideous but they are like High School Musical graduates hanging out with a lower pitched Scissor Sisters,nicking bits from Prefab Sprout and Deacon Blue along the way while overdosing on Sunny D and Smarties!
"Fascination" is the band's best track but here's the video for "Boyfriend"...

The band are touring all around the UK in Feb,supporting Palladium.
I'm sure it will be dirt cheap so check them out!

It's apparently only available 'exclusively' on Bebo, that's probably why it's been taken off YT.

The only other band that came close was The Sounds.
Favourite solo acts are different which would be Maia Hirasawa followed by Robyn.

Well they've done well for themselves with a decent chart placing for "Fascination" on downloads alone and a wealth of TV appearances, including Richard and Judy and GMTV.
Alphabeat are out on the road next month on the Popjustice wonky Pop tour so catch them if you can.

This one will definitely be on their 'set-list' at Butlins this year.
I posted months ago somewhere else that they were the indie Same Difference.
I like both acts so i don't see what the problem is.

I kept thinking this single was something from the 80's for ages everytime I heard it on the radio.

Few songs in recent memory have proved quite as polarising as 'Fascination'. Combining equal parts 'Footloose', 'Modern Love' and Danish six-piece Alphabeat's own brand of sunshine pop, 'Fascination' is - depending on whom you ask - either some sort of second coming of Pop-with-a-capital-'P' or the most irritatingly banal Top 10 single of 2008. The song was certainly defiantly mainstream but, as testament to Radio One's recent claim that the station would resume its support of mainstream pop, it ended up on the playlists of the nation's former favourite.
The good news for those who enjoyed 'Fascination' is that there is plenty on This Is Alphabeat to match that song's appeal, and the good news for those who found themselves yelling at the radio is that while This Is Alphabeat is not exactly an album aimed at taking the Led Zeppelin fanbase by storm, there's plenty to extend the band's sound across a variety of styles taking in electronica, disco and new wave. There's even a curious cover of PiL's 'Public Image'.
The band's journey to the Top 10 was brilliantly executed. This Is Alphabeat was first released in Denmark last year, where it went platinum. A small gig in London last spring came as the band were taken on by Mika's manager, who signed them to EMI imprint Charisma. Lengthy tours, the band regrouping in east London and a limited release for the benefit of 'cool' taste-makers gave the band some distance from the hyper-pop sounds that pepper this album, meaning that the band now sit alongside other nurovision acts such as Robyn and Annie in the British media's easily manipulated barometer of cool.
When 'Fascination' dropped it was also, unintentionally, a missile which hit right at the heart of an audience of young music fans who enjoy High School Musical, or who voted for Same Difference on The X Factor. However, Alphabeat's music, headed up with tagteam vocals from Anders SG and Stine Bramsen, is in another league. These are songs about love and loss and all the bits in between, made by adults for adults; pop music which also just happens to appeal outside the band's peer group. It's how pop used to work, once upon a time, before the genre became synonymous with fobbing children off with total rubbish.
This retro approach is perhaps no accident, as songwriter and guitarist Anders B wears his classic influences on his sleeve, notably on the brilliant new single '10,000 Nights' which references both 'Wuthering Heights' and 'The Safety Dance'. 'Go-Go', added to the album since its Danish release, is a homage to Chic with added disco zapping noises, while the pumped-up 'Boyfriend' and its battle cry of 'don't you touch my boyfriend, he's not your boyfriend, he's mine' is in severe danger of becoming the soundtrack to rowdy nights out across the country. As the album ends with 'Nothing But My Baby' and a snatch of polite feedback, This Is Alphabeat feels like the story of a band having embarked on an ambitious experiment in classic pop, having pulled it off, and having turned in something of a modern pop masterpiece to boot.

Whilst i have to agree with the strangeness of the Observers reviews i've read a few 5 star reviews for the Paul Weller album. Perhaps he has turned out a blinder against all the odds.
Maybe Lee Mavers helped out again ;)

If Boyfriend isn't the next UK single then I'm off to live on Mars with all the robots, they can serve me ice in my drinks.
(same goes for "Girl Overboard" in Girls Aloud land while I'm on the subject of next singles)
I don't really follow pop music but I can't stop singing "Fascination" and have even gone so far as to ask my stepdaughter how to download it.
Classic situation today at the Lovebox Festival.
The band were rescheduled to play first on the main stage as they had other commitments later in the day.
They ended up playing their whole set to an empty arena as the doors were late opening.
I was well ****** off when I got in as the photographers were meant to leg it straight to the pit to shoot them.
I had been in for about ten minutes standing at the main stage when I realised.
we originally thought it was a soundcheck but I noticed people setting up the stage in a different way to Alphabeat's set up so I twigged at that moment!!

Curious is not the word I'd use. Awful, terrible, unsulting maybe.
Is this typical of their output?
Worst song on the album, in my opinion.
I love 80s music so when I heard them I was very excited. After listening to the album, their singles fascination, 10,000 nights and boyfriend are the best, the rest of the album is kind of a miss to me. They don't grab with you with catchy rhythms like the mentioned singles do.
I look forward to hearing more from them in the future.

Aparantly Alphabeat have just been dropped by EMI (along with the Mystery Jets.) because it's not financially viable to do a 2nd album!
So much for investing in bands and letting them develop.
150,000 albums sold then dropped!
I doubt they'll struggle to do okay in the future as their last tour sold out at most venues (which were all decent sized) and they're heading out to the States to tour with Katy Perry soon.

A real shame, two bands with potential cut loose without any work done with them at all - especially as Alphabeat were forced to redo their album.
