I always think it's good to read reviews about a possible purchase,as they give you a fair idea of what to look for.I have also been looking at projectors,so i went through 3 years of homecinemachoice/home entertainment/what tv,video.I never bothered with projector reviews before, and it had made a big difference.Lcd projectors weakness is contrast..blacks are not true black, even greyish, and the colour range lacks the in your face quality.Dlp projectors are more expensive with better contrast, but have a 'rainbow effect',seemingly visible to some and not others. If you see it,it will be a rainbow which appears every few seconds,ie totally distracting.Crt projectors are very expensive and have to be permanently installed, and need regular servicing.Best possible quality, but they are big!!,and need a ceiling installation. Also go for a true 16:9 projector,as the 4:3 projectors simply letterbox widescreen films, losing resolution. After all i read, there is nothing i would buy at present, unless i could get a cheap Sanyo PLV-60.The new Panasonic seems to have a lot of hopes pinned on it,and it will be reviewed very soon.
www.homecinemachoice.com ...projector reviews.

Laserline (www.laserline.uk.com).

You are right, having a projector kicks TVs ass. BTW though mine is only an LCD model, having a grey screen helps to blacken the greys and in contrast the whites have much more clarity. Everything does, so the image is superb.

I've just purchased a Sony VPL-HS1 from www.dabs.com
10 months interest free credit. I got one with a free screen.

I am amazed with the picture quality, I was going to purchase a RPTV but changed my mind after a bit of research and am I glad I did.

As Napoleon advises, do some research and also check out www.avforums.com lots of help there.

Good luck:)
