8pm, Channel 5, looks like it's been extended to an hour.
TECHNOLOGY: The Gadget Show
On: five (105)
Date: Monday 29th October 2007 (starting in 8 days)
Time: 20:00 to 21:00 (1 hour long)
Consumer technology show. Suzi Perry and Jason Bradbury head to Barcelona to test the new Apple iPhone against the Nokia N95. Jon Bentley investigates the trend for miniaturisation by kitting out Britain's smallest house with the tiniest technology he can buy. And Jason builds the world's fastest water-rocket-powered vehicle, using an array of water cooler bottles and a homemade kart, before testing it on a drag strip.

Ta for that! Mildly irritating at times isn't as in depth as it pretends to be but there isn't exactly much competition, is there?
Probably extended by 15 mins to cover the amount of kit they seem to give away each week...
Glad it's back. Top Gear of techno. Useless reviews but good fun.
However it will annoy my kid as it's bang slap at bedtime.

I'm probably sounding all grumpy, I do like the show, but Fifth Gear of Techno is more accurate (if less catchy sounding!)
Aaargh - I see Jon Bentley is still on board.
Surely he is the man Sky+ was invented for? (For fast forwarding, not pausing if anyone is in doubt  )
Been wondering when this would return, was thinking of it the last few Monday's while watching crap on TV.

What a surprise, not one minute in and they're going on about the iPhone. Borrrrrrrrrrring! Give us some gadgets that we're not sick to death of already.
I'm really going to use my phone hanging off a bridge

Isn't this show just irritating? They take ages to say very little; making big elaborate games to "test" the gadgets, which is 90% presenters being annoying, and 10% gadget testing.
You learn so much more by reading a review online.
Stunning Suzi!
In that black dress. :notworthy

This programme beggars belief!
iPhone v Nokia N95
Tested texting hanging upside down hanging from a bridge.
Tested music out in the open.
Tested the camera and video capability.
NO mention of their internet capabilities - 3G v 2G etc
Wi-fi capability - NO
These are the REAL issues / features relevant to phone users today!

bit crap that really wasn't it? looks like the producers watch top gear and want capture the feel of that show and they fail on all counts.

And as predicted earlier in the thread "Biggest prize fund ever"
I love the show, the tests are pointless the most of the time, they dont give as much detail as they should, but I still enjoy it.
Used to love this show. Was happy that is was an hour long but I was quickly reminded during it how stale its got. In fact all my memory today recalls is a long piece of Iphone v N95 with a completely pointless plot and Jason making some sort of compressed air vehicle which did not work was pointless and probably belonged on top gear. And that other chap that it quite obvious that Suzi and Jason don't like doing something but I forget - thats how memorable the show was.

Saturday morning at 10am.
Thanks:thumbs:
Agree, what was the point of the compressed vehicle,it was so lame and Jason's manic excitement at going 2mph was cringeworthy.
I'm not sure why the producers feel the need to go so OTT in testing the gadgets at a program aimed at geeks :dork:like myself who would prefer to see more snazzy gear than 20mins of exposition in explaining how the testing will happen. I almost dozed off a few times during this program and not sure i can be bothered to watch next weeks yet another 'destruction test' .

Was happy that is was an hour long...
They now have more and longer ad-breaks whereas before when it was in a ~40min timeslot the ad-breaks were often just one or two spots...resulting in it now being not that much longer than before...
Total waste of time these "challenges" they do - very tiresome and annoying - it used to be so much better with more "facts" (when they got it right, of course) focussing on the gadgets without all the tedious overlong challenge segments which rarely show anything useful about the products...
The presenters on this show make me cringe, how utterly embarassing it all is. Suzi's alright as a milf presenter but the upper-class twit Lurch and the moronic boy/man are insufferable.

Damnit means I've got to waste money again, its the only ripoff phoneline competition I ever enter :P
I did like the Transforming car though ;)
But my brother was gonna get the iPhone (only 16) have told him at his age there is no point. Might tell him to watch this Saturday morning.

You can enter on the website as well as by phone / sms, but, unusually, there's a charge to enter on the website as well. No free entry method means it's essentially a lottery and comes under a whole stack of much tighter regulations and licenses than an ordinary prize competition as far as I know. If I have 10 minutes to spare I'm going to look into it further, maybe the Gadget Show will be the latest TV compo scandal!
By the way those saying "Suzi in a black dress :luv::luv:", I thought Dressed Ip Suzi looked about 40, and not in a good MILFy way. I guess she is not for me . And Jason's stubble in the same scenes was

I like this and understand that they have to "dumb down" the subject matter in the same way that Top Gear does in order to get a long show on a main channel in a decent timeslot. But I found last night's phone test to be particularly contrived and a bit pointless at times It didn't really tell me much about using either of those phones on a daily basis under normal circumstances which was a bit disappointing.

How do they manage to spend so long talking about a bunch of cameras
For all the "Ooh look at how crap the iPhone is" bashing they did last week I noticed Jason was using one in one of the features today rather than the precious N95
By the way those saying "Suzi in a black dress :luv::luv:", I thought Dressed Ip Suzi looked about 40, and not in a good MILFy way. I guess she is not for me .
So you din't see her tonight when they managed to get her into a bikini splashing about in water?
The program is just getting better and better.. :notworthy :notworthy
I wonder if next week they will be testing sunbeds?
Haha - it was a bit gratuitous, wasn't it!

OK, so I suppose the Susie fans have got all overexcited about her being tied up in the woods.
Did anyone else think that Jason looked a bit too at home with the "gimp on a leash" look?
I liked the look of that Sony HD video/stills camera, just a shame I've vowed never to buy Sony kit ever again really, so that one'll have to pass me by.

Sorry to be anal but I noticed a couple of things tonight that didn't quite add up:
* Why did that motor home have Sky HD on the TV? It was only a little portable TV plus they showed you the Sky box and it was a standard freebie Sky Minibox
* They blanked out the date and time of the Sky EPG but left it in briefly at the beginning. It said it was 4.55pm in the middle of August so why was it pitch black outside
* The EPG had been adjusted to show "The Foreigner"
Why fake all of that?!
Sorry - I will go now.
Forgot about it, does anyone know when its repeated?

going through the competition prize now takes longer than the show itself.

That's ok - you aren't the only one, I wondered about the HD option. I was watching that C4 big quiz thing the other day and noticed one of the wrong answer crosses mysteriously changed to a tick when they showed a close up of the score board.
Edit - and the emergency storm shelter didn't get a second glance!

...and unless I missed it, how did Suzi manage to get a WiFi signal on her Archos in the middle of nowhere?
They weren't in the middle of nowhere, just in a field overlooking Swansea.
The Gadget Show has gone all "Top Gear" in my opinion. Used to be full of decent reviews of cool stuff. Now just naff macho stunts that make pretty TV. Gets worse each week. Removing it from my Tivo when I can be bothered :-(
EDIT: As has been mentioned on the previous page.
I don't even fancy Suzie although she has got a decent body.

Possibly the worst episode ever, the "tests" reeally are a waste of time and effort for everyone except those in it.
Mate at work absolutely loved the show (and Top Gear!) but even he thinks The Gadget Show is now rubbish.

WTF is this about? "The Gadget Show's Suzi Perry accidentally caught undressing"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=J7wM16_X3hY
Obviously a setup from the way he keeps holding the phone just in the way and is talking even more nonsense than usual. But why? Is it intended for a DVD of "accidental" outtakes or something?
edit: ah in the comments people think it might be for a "who can get the most youtube hits" challenge later in the series

Uh - what? How can you review PVRs on a geeky gadget show and not include a Toppy?
That's like reviewing paint and not including Dulux.

Yep, there was a small clip of it at the end of tonight's show, in the preview for next week. Something about trying to be an internet star.

Was just in second life to see what all the fuss was about... It's an extremely inefficient chat room.
The presenters were there, it was laggy as hell. Not helped by some tit with a masssive dragon avatar breathing fire on everyone.
Load of silly questions "say my name on air" etc. Apparently slap head was really naked...
Bentley answered some useful questions though. He's one of the good ones.
Just saw an advertisement before CSI:NY.
Gadget Show back on Monday @ 8pm. ;)

showing macbook air and Jasons water-rocket car
I can't wait to see Jason use the MacBook to escape from being buried under a tonne of cheese, Suzi to pose provactively on the sofa for an hour and Lurch testing toasters with Dale Winton.
Quick reminder bump for anyone that might have missed the fact that the new series (series 8, no less!) starts tonight at 8pm on Five.
