View Full Version : 16GB iPOD Touch - £228 or 8GB iPOD Nano £110 (if flying!!)
Tax free price probably the cheapest if buying in the UK;
iPOD Touch Dixons Tax Free Price - £228 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1597&id=30372&p=http://www.dixonstaxfree.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=portable_audio.view§ion=portable_audio&group=1003&pro_id=7000730)
iPOD Nano Dixons Tax Free Price - £110 (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1597&id=30372&p=http://www.dixonstaxfree.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=portable_audio.view§ion=portable_audio&group=1003&pro_id=7000536)
Of course you'd have to declare it and pay the duty on it when you brought it back into the country wouldn't you? :suspect::n0rty:
I think the Nano was about £108. The shuffle comes with a free case at the moment
No I dont think you need to declare it :shrug:
This is available even if travelling within the EU - I have used the system for several purchases when flying to and from Germany (where I live at the moment) - so no issues with declaring it as far as I am aware
I think there is a difference between "duty free" and "tax free"
I think if flying within the EU goods are tax free, if flying out of the EU they are Duty Free - I think :thinking:
T&C's are here, but nothing about declaring the goods;

I am curious about this as Im off to the US in 4 weeks - may want to avail myself of a Touch so to speak ;) Given they will deliver them to your home or to a landside DIxons store then surely they dont need to be declared ?
No tax/duty to pay, you can even collect from the other side of customs when you retuen

Yep. You don't need to declare them. It's Tax Free not Duty Free. (Basically Dixons are paying the VAT and claiming it back somehow)
I bought an 80Gb Classic for £134 this week.
Word of advice..
Even though the website shows these prices, instore the only prices shown are bundles with cases, screen protectors etc.
When I asked how much for the iPod on it's own I was given a little sales patter about how much I'm saving by getting all the goodies. I really had to press them for a unit only price.
Bought an ipod classic 160gb for £195, many thanks to OP!

Good price. I paid near $370 in a US Apple store.

Why? Is the couple of quid price difference worth the customs risk? Would there be any warranty issues with a US model?
I'm off to the US in 2 weeks and I have asked at my local apple shop about buying in the US, they said apple stuff as a worldwide guarantee
so there is no problem if anything goes wrong.
They even told me to buy one in the US as they are alot cheaper, the only trouble is I have phoned the apple shop in Florida and the Touch is as rare there as they are here.
Dixons airport stores are a good deal for nearly anything they sell - and they usually have Apple laptops.
I picked up a Nikon camera at Dixons Stansted the other week when flying to Italy and paid the same as the cheapest price i could find anywhere online on my return with the benefit of being able to try one out first.
