I'm spending more time on the road now with work and feel it's time for a PDA/Smart Phone as I hate missing emails when away, lord knows im clueless as to whats about, I'd like wifi, sat nav built in and bluetooth.

I'm also unsure as to go for one with a touch screen keyboard or a keyboard that slides out etc, so a proper keyboard I mean, any advice or recommendations please.

Thanks

I've had my HTC S710 for a week now and am MIGHTLY impressed - its not a touch screen, but does have a slide out keyboard. Looks & acts like a regular phone when closed, which makes it easier to make calls and read texts. No sat nav, but does have wi-fi, bluetooth, emails etc. Emails are a breeze to set up as the phone recognises ALOT of different emails accounts and the settings are built-in/instant download. You can also download SMS/MMS/WAP settings for all UK networks from HTC's website...

Try an E61 on 3 for free SatNav.

How about the new 8GB Nokia N95?

Cheers, no camera though, think the XDA Orbit looks good though.

No keypad though, which is why I sold mine! Was way too annoying for texting/emailing.

Got a p1i now which I love - qwerty keyboard is awesome and it syncs well with notes and outlook. Only thing it hasn't got on your list is GPS!

If i was taking out a new contract it would be a MDAVario 3, runs windows mobile 6, built in keyboard, gps, bluetooth, wireless, and G3 HSDA.

Also supports push email out the box and works a treat.

Tmobiles web and walk tarrifs are v.good compared to other networks from what I can tell.

Any vario is decent enough tho, for satnav you would need a bluetooth gps unit.

I can not get away with nokeyboard for emails on the other windows mobile devices around

Nokia N95, sat nav, bluetooth, 5mb camera, wifi, everything but the touch screen. I'm posting it from on it now. Best phone i've ever had.

HTC Trinity/Orange M700... built-in GPS, WiFi etc. I've had one for six months or so and it's by far the best phone I've had.

I installed SPB Mobile Shell too, which is a huge improvement over the standard shell.

Mobile Shell (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en)

They also do a full screen keyboard, but I send so few texts it's not really worth it for me... looks good (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/fsk/?en)though.

Had Treo, HTC 3100 and S170 and they are all OK. They don't touch the N95 in terms of all round useability.

It's a genius phone.

You can't beat good old Nokia.

Phil,

How is the GPS on the N95 mate... ?

Also, a mate in work has one and every time he takes a Photo, the phone connects to the Internet for some reason. Can that be disabled... ?

Cheers. :)

GPS is now working fine. It takes a while first time use to get the signal but once setup it's fine. I am using the Route66 maps and it all works well, even in the car.

WRT to the photo thing, I have never seen it do that, there must be some setting for connection usage for the various apps. Which app tries to connect? Are you sure it's not set to video and it's trying to upload it to some video server?

No it's just when he takes a Photo.

He noticed on his monthly bill that he had all this Internet time and when he questioned it with Orange, they told him to contact Nokia as the phone automatically accesses the Internet when he takes a Photo. They also told him this was very common with the Nokia N-Series.

This was Orange who told him this information.

He has yet to contact Nokia.

Searched and found this on another forum

I have an n95 on Orange. After I take a photo, I'm presented with an annoying pop-up menu with the options "Upload to my album", "Blog" and "Send to a friend". I'm guessing this is some ruse to encourage more data transfer (££) by getting people to go on-line whenever they take photos. Is there any way to disable this pop-up? I've tried turning off the option to view a photo after it's taken but this makes no difference.

So someone else has experience ir and I also found this

2 PROBLEMS SOLVED

the problem with the stupid message that popped up every time i took a pic was due to an application added by orange ....

in the apps there was a tool called "Photography" ... its basicly a tool from orange to upload all your images instantly to an online profile ... of course your charged for the data connection (very crafty of them)

however when you un install it you loose that annoying message .... brilliant ....

So tell Orange to Eff off :D

Let me know if it fixes it!

That's why debranding is best, mines on Orange and I don't get the problem so I reckon it is fixable by doing the above and uninstalling the app.

He's trying it right now.

Says the popups are that fast it's hard to keep up... :D

Will update later.

Cheers. :)

He managed to disable it and now only gets a disclaimer coming up.

There was no uninstall option, only a remove one.

Cheers. :)
