View Full Version : Heroes - Season 2 Episode 3 *Spoilers*
I found this alot better this week, but one thing i found very cheesy was the flying part. It looked so much like Superman 1.
Also a few of last seasons regulars are back, and where the hell was Sylar
Heroes just keeps getting better.
Peter is just totally bad ass and as for Sylar who has him? where is he? and will his power return?
Its a shame about Candice though she was hot until her true self was made clear:gag:
So its looks like we have a possible ending. 43mins is just not enough watching it week-by-week is just too hard but I coulnd't save a couple of episodes that would be even harder.
Roll on next week.
Candice s probably still alive and it's probably all an illusion
Candice s probably still alive and it's probably all an illusion.....
I suppose, why leave anyone alone with Sylar when he is a power hungry maniac. You don't want Sylar getting her power, that would not be good for either side.
A good episode, but I thought the sfx were pretty poor. It all looked rather fake.

2007, all this technology and we still can't figure out how to make people fly...
There's been a lot of poorly done SFX so far (arrows + blood at the end of Ep2, Candice shapeshifting and the flying this ep) Hopefully they've made a few budget cuts in a few episodes so they can have more than 1 big SFX episode this season
I don't think Candice is dead. I think she used her powers to set up a virtual test (i.e. X-Men's Danger Room :dork:) so her and her boss can see how volatile Sylar is.

Pretty solid. Glad the stupid Claire and annoying flying boy subplot is going somewhere.
Sylar back and killing, good stuff. I'm presuming that dead Mr Bennet is actually either Candice or Sylar... that said we've seen that Isaac's paintings aren't the future, just a possible future (see nuclear bomb).
Wish they would hurry up and get to the point with the two new people, bored of that already.
Hiro subplot all seems a little disconnected from the main story as well, almost dare I say it bordering on filler at the moment.
Still it's always watchable.
Sulu beams up to heaven so Uhuru takes the stage!
I'm sick of the crying couple - WORST POWER EVER.
I'll stick with it though.
It's definitely not reaching the giddy heights of season one yet but it's still reasonably entertaining. That flying scene was appalling, they should stick to nightime where they can hide their limited TV FX budget.

Superman can take people flying because he's got super-strength. If I was Claire I wouldn't have been confident of the scrawny high-schooler being able to carry me through the air.

I guess they blew their FX budget already somewhere, the whole episode look awful. Story-wise however, it was great fun. Great to see Sylar back, and I don't really believe Candice is dead (I guess they couldn't afford to get the original actress back either!).
DL is dead? I kind of missed that part, was it because of his gunshot wound from last season?
The bits with Hiro and Kensei are really good fun, but somewhat nonsensical. Why is Hiro leaving a message for Ando to find? He can teleport back to the future at the exact moment he left if he wanted, he's not restricted there at all so it doesn't make much sense.
It's got to the point where I just want to skip past the scenes with the Mexican brother and sister. What pointless, boring rubbish.
Really hope Mr. Bennet doesn't die!

Yeah but he doesn't really have to worry about dropping her though. ;)
I'm guessing Candice is still alive as no-one would be stupid enough to hang around a guy who's primary goal was to capture as many powers as possible.
Now off to read this weeks comic.

Agreed. It's still holding my attention but I'm not as excited by it as I was last season. I saw someone mention elsewhere about the amazing cliffhangers they used to have in the first season that left you gagging for more. Haven't seen anything comparable yet.
The only character keeping me interested at the minute is Peter. So far this season has been a bit on the drab side for me. They could really do with getting Hiro and Ando back together.

It's really early days yet. For the first 4 or 5 episodes of season 1 I was quite bored and ready to give up on the show. Looks like they might be going with the slow-burner route here again and just taking time to set things up.

I'm fairly certain that her dropping from a great height would have a good chance of inccuring a head injury, which I thought was the one thing she was susceptable to?

seems like the backlash and discontentment has already started.
True the cliffhangers haven't been there as yet, but i'd rather they build up to them than go like 24 did last season by trying to cram too much into each episode then the cliffhangers lost their impact as there was one every single week trying to out-do the previous one.
Thought the flying bit was awful though, very smallville, not in keeping with S1 at all. Peter's bits are the highlight so far. Can't see where the Niki story is going as yet either.
Candice was really called Betty if you've read the Graphic Novels and was big and fat so I am presuming she is dead
Wonder if Peter's story will run in Ireland. Trailer for ep4 looks like the ep has lots of Molly and Nathan in it.

She's impervious to everything. In season one, she fell on that stick and the back of her head was punctured, she remained dead until the stick was removed while on the autopsy table. As soon as that stick was gone she healed right up.
I guess if she was just stabbed in the arm or somewhere and the item was left embedded in her body she wouldn't be able to heal.
I can't believe they went all the way to Ireland ...... they had Guinness and everything! :D
Second best only to when 'Lost' visited London, we have Red Buses and wave Union Jacks everywhere!
So Sylar is still alive and well and in the middle of nowhere. Anyone else think Candice was working alone and that no-one knows he's out in the middle of the jungle? Was quite funny to see him try and use her power, but as it's all illusion it wouldn't actually have got him to any of those places now would it?
SFX were really bad this episode
but the episode as a whole was very good
i guess i keep forgetting its a tv show and not a movie and therefore doesnt have the budget for some of the SFX (although some of the sfx in the latest smallville episode was actually very good)

I thought at first when Sylar killed Candice (it was odd they didn't show her skull off like before?) that it was going to reveal that it was all still an illusion. However since they didn't do that within that scene I'm thinking it's probably real.
So Nikki has the virus - will she turn to the dark side?

Yes, I took that to be because his skin healed after he had the tattoo done. The godsend symbol appeared because... probably it has some even deeper meaning that will be revealed.
I also think Nikki was asking to be "cured" of Jessica, not the virus.

Don't think Candice is dead, think its a test to see how Sylar reacts to being left in the middle of the jungle. Still great to have him back.
Bit weird how Ando is reading the messages from Hiro in perfect order from the sword
Ridiculous hypothesis:

Anyways, roll on next week
Had future Peter met Claire? They still haven't explained how Claire can have pierced ears.
I think he had, after all we know that Peter had 'saved the cheerleader' by that point.
Also Claire should be able to pierce her ears, as long as she doesn't remove the ear-rings she won't heal, if she took them out then she'd need to be repierced.

She has holes in her ears where her ears are pierced, but no ear rings in them.
I find the Hiro/Ando communication strange. I also wonder what the significance of the hispanic couple being in Claire's stolen car is.
Was it Claire's stolen car? I'm sure her dad gave her a silver coloured car, not a blue one?
I think he had, after all we know that Peter had 'saved the cheerleader' by that point. But Future Peter hadn't saved the cheerleader -- that was the whole point of Future Hiro's message.

Still really enjoying this although the shine has slightly wore off.
One possible theory I had, do not read below if you don't want a potential spoiler for future episodes (it's just my theory but don't blame me if it's right and I spoil your enjoyment). I realise others may have had this theory, I'm not claiming it's rocket science ;)
Takezo Sensei ages slowly due to his healing powers and he's actually Linderman who had an affair with Mrs Petrelli giving us Peter and Nathan
*edit*
Doh, I realise my fantastic theory was already posted on the S02E02 thread on the 7/10. DOH, next I'll be posting about some fantastic new invention called Electricity. (hadn't read that post until now, honest)
But Future Peter hadn't saved the cheerleader -- that was the whole point of Future Hiro's message.
I think he had, cause you see Claire speaking to Nathan/Sylar that very episode.
I suppose if the actress has pierced her ears its cheaper to not edit each frame with her to make it appear as though she had no piercings.
Season 1 had a definite story objective. From the first three episodes all we've gained is what the characters are up to.
So far we have:
the virus
the missing artist pics
Molly's nightmares
etc
but no concrete tie between all the different story lines.

Perhaps if she had her ears pierced before her powers manifested themselves, it would stay like it was.

Wasn't Linderman's power to heal things rather than himself?
I was wondering whether
Takezo Sensei was actually Mr Petrelli, Peter and Nathan's father that we never saw. We still don't know what old Ma Petrelli's power is yet tho.

Im not sure if its to see how volatile sylar is, or at least not that alone. I was thinking more along the lines of that they couldnt work out how sylars power worked when they had him in captivity in season 1 so I think this was more of a scenario designed to see exactly how he acquires powers and what happens to his brain/physiology when he does it.
I didn't think she had the virus, just that she wanted curing of her alter ego!
Im pretty sure she is allready rid of her alter ego and the cure she was actually after was one to rid her of her ability all together.

The Eclipse was in the first (maybe second) episode of season 1 iirc. I don't think the eclipse has to do with people acquiring their powers. I think Nathan found out he could fly before the eclipse happened in S1 but then again I don't think Peter started absorbing peoples powers until after the eclipse, he just had 'dreams'. I'm not sure though, maybe you only get 'granted' powers on every eclipse. I need to watch the first season again.

They're direct references rather than parallels I reckon. I'd imagine hiiro's a big BTTF fan given his repeated use of the phrase "great scottu!", so he probably got the idea of the notes from BTTF III.
I suppose if the actress has pierced her ears its cheaper to not edit each frame with her to make it appear as though she had no piercings.
I imagine Claire's powers work by basically only regenerating her body after she receives damage. So when she first received her powers, because her ears were already pierced they will remain so until something drastic happens like she gets her ear lobes cut off, then they would regenerate as regular unpierced lobes.

Claire's had her powers since she was a baby -- she survived the fire started by her mother, before Noah adopted her.
The pierced ears are surely just a matter of convenience for those who make the show: the actress has them, and it's easier to not hide them.

Those were both problematic because they were inserted into the base of the skull: there have been strong hints throughout that the head or brain is important in explaining these powers (Sylar opens up heads to acquire powers, remember). Claire's stick was in her brain stem; Peter's glass was in about the same place.
When we saw Candice dead on the floor, that is how she looked before she started using her powers.
The comics showed her in school when she first started using them. She was a hefty girl, used her powers to mess with people's heads, then done a runner and started a new life as Candice, who was everything she wasn't (good-looking :D ).

The split persona isn't a power. Niki's power is super strength, it was just manifested in the spirit of her dead twin.
I'm sure there was a point in the last few episodes of season one in which Niki herself realises what she can do.
I didn't think she had the virus, just that she wanted curing of her alter ego!
Her alter ego faded away in the season finale; to me it looks like she wants to be "cured" of her powers.
I think he had, cause you see Claire speaking to Nathan/Sylar that very episode.
Sylar (as Nathan) also says at that point that he has finally found her i.e. he's not met her before -> Future Peter never met Claire.

We learnt something new this time i.e. her power doesn't just go off when her brother is not around. She can control when it occurs but probably not retract it.
i'm not so sure. I think the power only appears when she's emotional/distressed (hence the tears). She went out of her way to get arrested and it was whilst they were arresting her that she started to cry
she is pretty annoying tho! <boohoo whingewhinge whinge!!!!>

can't argue with that!
Can anyone say BORING? I could forgive the bad acting in the first season because it was actually interesting but I haven't found a single redeeming factor yet. What is their budget like compared to last year as it seems they are scrimping everywhere! I will hold on an keep watching it but it's definitely so far, so very not good
I'd certainly say it is very contrived so far, especially with Peter and his non-box opening decision, that was for me a Lost moment.
Not feeling it yet, but will keep watching as they had it so right in season one and I have to hope they're just off to a slow start.

I am now up to this episode and it just all being set up for the last half of this season. They really don't want to give away too much otherwise they'll run out of things to write about as I did wonder where the plots were headed after last season. Roll on number 4!!
Just watched this on BBC3, immediately after 2x02. Enjoying this. Good to see 'You whore you' from Enterprise - knew her immediately too!
Oirish accents pretty annoying. And Irish security guards aren't armed - nor do they wear US police style uniforms... still good though!
