Just been checking the news over at Sonic Youths Website (http://www.sonicyouth.com) and apparently there will be a DVD release of the Sonic Youth videos Screaming Fields of Sonic Love, The Goo That Lives on in My Heart and 1991: The Year Punk Broke.

Why is this good news for Nirvana fans? 1991: The Year Punk Broke is the documentary which followed Sonic Youth around the European Festivals, which also included Nirvana, so you get a number of segments featuring the band and a few live tracks (5 to be precise). It also features Dinosaur Jr, Babes In Toyland, Gumball and The Ramones. As you can probably tell I am excited about this release, being a huge Nirvana fan, but it is also a must have for anybody who was a fan of the Grunge scene of the early 90s.

Here's what it says on their site:

Videophiles can expect DVD editions of SY video titles Screaming Fields of Sonic Love, The Goo That Lives on in My Heart, and 1991: The Year Punk Broke. The band is currently screening additional material and planning special features to include, to make these titles even more special.

I can't wait, my old VHS copy has definitely seen better days!!

Cheers for the news, can't wait for this one. Dinosaur Jr, Babes In Toyland, Nirvana and The Ramones were all great bands, but Sonic Youth are the reason I'll be picking this disc up - sheer class. Ah, this is bringing back fond memories of Reading '91... heady times indeed :D.
