Hi all
Just after a bit of advice really. I have a budget of about £7-800 and am looking for a TV that can output 1080p. Is there any about in the price bracket (that are any good) or do I need to be downscaling my ideas and drop the 1080p requirement. Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you really need 1080p for a 37" TV?

Do you think 1080p is unnecessary? I just want to be able to play my x-box with the best possible picture (which I cann't do at the moment). And I'm going to go down the HD-DVD route soon and wanted it for that.

But I am open to all sugestions; as you may have guessed I don't really have a clue when it comes to this sort of thing!

I reference this chart in so many posts on various forums because its insanely useful :

Check your personal situation, but its basically clarifying that unless you were sitting at around 5-6ft away from the screen you won't really benefit. In most situations, you'd probably be sitting a fair bit further away than that.

If you limit yourself to purely 1080p televisions (which is as already been stated not required at that size), then you eliminate a lot of potentially good models such as the Panasonic TH37PX70 (http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/plasma/Panasonic_th37px70.htm) plasma or Samsung LE37R87 (http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/lcd/Samsung_LE37R87BDX.htm) lcd - best to go out and go have a look at various models in the flesh, then decide for yourself.

I'm considering the LG 37LF65 in Spain

It's around 1000 Euros and Full-HD.

Only thing, I haven't seen it working.

They have a full lineup for other sizes

PC World (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1598&id=30372) are selling LG 37" 1080P TVs with onboard freeview amd 2 x HDMI for £499 instore and online. I just bagged myself an ex display model for £449 today as that store was totally sold out. Be quick though, as if my store sold off their display model (only 4 days old too), stock must be very low.

The exact model of the one I bought is LG 37LC46

This is an upgrade from a 32" 768 resolution panel, and I'm very pleased with it. Blacks are pretty good for LCD.
