View Full Version : Weeds S3 [US PACE]
Probably a good idea to keep S3 discussion out of the existing Weeds thread that's discussing S1 & 2

I'm still on the fence with this season. I don't think it's bettered S2 yet, there have been some great moments but i've not cared a great deal for the new characters which have come at the expense of Doug and Dean imo. I don't really like U-Turn, Marvin and Mathew Modine's character just isn't a good a character as some of the regular that have been cast aside.
The Whole U-Turn plot i didn't find particularly funny nor harrowing. And the way they've written him out is pretty strange. However now he's gone Ep 7 really got back on track and the porn set with Doug, Dean and Andy was fantastic. Andy to Lex - 'Well i guess we're even then!'
Too early to tell if a S4 is planned?

I thought I had read that they commissioned season 3 and 4 together.
I agree with you that this series has been less funny than previous series but its almost as if they painted themselves into a corner at the end of season 2 and its taken them 6 episodes to get out of it. Hopefully 7 being much better is a sign of things to come.

Yes i agree, when you think how quickly the plot progressed from the S1 cliffhanger and throughout S2 it's a little disappointing that it's taken half a season for her character to get anywhere.
Wow, i completely agree with this too. Nail on the head, not much left to say.

But there's an Olsen twin in it now. How can it be bad? :luv:

Bah, you can keep your anorexic kids - give me a rain soaked Mary Louise Parker in her skimpys any day.
They've really upped the naked stakes this season. Surely it's only a matter of time before Nancy gets it off!!.
I'm assuming Celia's funbags where prosthetics? or does she really have wonky bubs mewonders!

Nah the main star never has to follow the same rules as anyone else. Look at Sex & the City - ole' horseface never appeared topless despite every other cast member doing it.
So chances of seeing Mary Louise Parkers assets are slim. :(
Not so sure about this episode, nothing really progressed and the whole FBI agent thing was quickly brushed away due to some internal scandal. Will be interesting to see what the ex wife does with Nancy though.
Yeah I'm sure Celia had full prosthetics could be doing with trim as well.
Things didn't move along much this episode, the Nancy and FBI agent wife didn't account to much (will be sorted next week no doubt).
But star of the show is Andy (AKA The Foot) just brilliant as always Weeds likes to keep ahead of normal TV shows, throwing in something new.
I've been a bit disappointed with the new season - it's still great telly and much better than the majority of stuff out there, but the bar was set very high the first two seasons. The U-Turn stuff I just didn't find convincing - suburban housewife dealing weed, yes. Suburban housewife involved with heroin dealing and drive-by shootings - stretching it a bit.
Generally I think it's getting a bit chaotic and they're just chucking in whatever they can think of. Will definitely stick with it, but it's got a way to go to meet the heights of last season.

I don't see why. Its not like MLP hasn't done nudity before?
Technically you got to see MLP's breast this week ;)
.... and last week's wet underwear left little to the imagination.
Anyways, more importantly, where can I get a copy of Foot *******? :D
Anyone else also watching S3 of My Name Is Earl?
Watch episode 2 and you'll never look at U-Turn in the same light again. Classic stuff :D

The ending of episode 9 is one of the funniest things I've seen on a TV show this year! :notworthy
I guess I'm in the minority as I reckon S3 is the best so far (I'm up to ep 6)
sure, it's not that realistic, but that's not why I'm watching it
I quite the way it's gone a bit bizarro (eg when the brother-in-law is in the army and what happens to his mate/army trying to get the mobile phone back/crazy Christian teacher getting the kids to figure out the 'murder')
Doug dancing was ******* hilarious. Haven't laughed out that loud in a long while
The Olsen girl looks surprisingly normal so far in this - very thin but normal. Wasn't expecting that

Just watched eps 11 and 12, and thought "Well that was a crappy end to the series". Didn't realise they'd extended the run to 15 eps this year.
I am losing interest in this fast though. Ooh look, someone else has turned up to threaten the business. http://www.artificiallyhip.co.uk/sleep1.gif

I agree, I still enjoy watching it but it's reached a bit of a rut, so it's time to end it I think.
Only problem is I doubt they've written the season 3 finale as a proper ending, as they haven't announced it's the last season. That means we either don't get a conclusive ending (as S4 might not get commissioned) or we get a whole new lacklustre season!
(Which I'll probably still watch!)
Definitely way off form at the moment, has been all season. Personally if this is how it's going to continue I'd have been happier ending it after S2 - sure, it was an open ending but it was a hell of a good one . . .
It's definitely not as good as S1 or 2, but not by much IMO. It still remains refreshingly jet-black in humour & the LOL-per-minute is still impressive. My only problems is it feels dis"joint"ed (pardon the pun) this season.
A gazillion times better than any US studio half-hour comedy tv show (except The Office of course).
I just wish they'd give Andy and Doug more screen time. They kinda dropped the whole Andy doing Porn too quickly imo.
A 13 episode Fourth Season has been confirmed.
How has this been doing the last couple of weeks? I've not been keeping up with it, any return to form?

HAven't gotten myself motivated enought to watch the last two episodes. Will try and get around to it over the weekend.

Well it all ended amusingly enough, and seemed to have been written as then end so i'm not sure how another series would follow on - I guess they could reboot it but i'm not sure how well that would work
Doug's Banjo playing was an amusing highpoint
Disappointing finale. Definitely not a cliffhanger, more a set-up for a reboot.
Overall, certainly the poorest season so far but still plenty of big laughs & enjoyable characters.

Thoroughly agree - as I said earlier on they painted themselves into a corner with the season 2 cliffhanger and then spent most of the season getting out of it. In doing so they forgot the things that made this show so good in the first place but this still had some good moments with Andy and Doug in particular. The problem now is if the fourth season relocates the series to a new location it will have to lose some characters or it will feel forced that they all ended up together.

I don't agree, they haven't actually gotten out of Agrestic yet, the police know Nancy's name for the first time and they could still get linked to the fires altho I agree they probably just changed the final episode to make it continue rather than settle things. I enjoyed the season personally, but s1+s2 were very high standards to follow.

Hmm, a nice ending - I think it'd be good to not go ahead with the next season and just end the show there was it works as a pretty good ending.
I liked the ending, it was a nice little wrap up as I am not a fan of cliff hangers.
Quite moving when she said "I tried" to imaginary Judah before burning the house down.
Agreed that this series was not as good as S1 and S2 tho.
