Have just reviewed Iris for DVD Times. It has some good performances, but a glossy script that lacks substance. Even so, it was quite good.

Check out the link in my sig.

What a let down this film was. The performances were generally excellent throughout, unfortunately the story wasn't. I knew nothing of Iris Murdoch before watching this film and upon leaving I knew only fractionally more.

It seems as if she had a really interesting life, unfortunately the film-makers (and the novelist?) decided to concentrate on the less interesting parts of her life.

Totally underwhelming, it really is a shame to waste the obvious talents of Dame Judy, Jim Broadbent and Kate Winslett on something that came across as totally mediocre.:(
