Anyone planning to get this?

NBA 2K7 is one of my favourite games but don't know if I can be bothered to pick up this one if its just a glorified roster upgrade.

Get Live 08 instead ;)

Demo was fantastic.

There's a demo on the marketplace of this. Only had a quick go on it last night. It looks stunning!

I enjoyed the demo but it seemed similar to my mate's 2k7 but might get it as I have NBA 2k6.

Much better than Live 08

100% getting this after the super effort of 07 - only £29.99 at Play.com (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://playcom.at/thedvdforums) as well :D

Loved NBA 2K7 up to a point. However, it was too easy to get achievements and I think what the 360 version of this game needs is for achievements to be linked to pre-set dificulty settings that can't be changed. Sure, let the player move the sliders for an exhibition game but not for a season game which is where the achievement points should be focused. It was too easy to make it so you could score 360 points in a game in 2k7. I wanted to learn how to play basketball and then take on a season mode but there was no incentive to do so.

If you own a PS3 then get it on that. Then you don't have to worry about achievements and actually play the game...

Will deffo be picking this up now if it's £30 uber bargain!

A game without achievements?

Not sure I could go back to that.

I don't mind a game without achievements to be honest. I've been playing a few RPGs on the PS2 recently and not having to think about achievements at all is oddly liberating.

A prime example of what I mean by that is in Bioshock. The devs made a big issue of how you have a moral choice to make. But if you are interested in getting all the achievements it wasn't much of a choice was it.

I don't think the achievements in NBA 2K7 or 2K8 (because they are almost identical) are well thought out. There's nothing for 24/7 or season mode at all. It kind of invites you to mess with the sliders and get all the individual player achievements. By the time I had learned how to play basketball properly and got most of those achievements I wanted to move on to the next game rather than start a season or 24/7 mode.

What do you mean by mess with the sliders?

As in the options?

To get a few of those player achievements where you have to get so many rebounds and blocks you can reduce or increase the appropriate sliders to help make those easier to achieve.

thats a very odd view (no offence) you could just play the game without worrying about achievements. With Bioshock, I played it through twice, first I got the bad ending then the so called good ending as I wanted to see both. the 2k7 achievements look ok as it gives the freedom to get them in any mode . I still have 2k6 and still play it although I got all 5 achievements as its a good game despite the graphics
