I bought quite a few scart cables from this website:

http://www.zignig.co.uk/

The gold scarts are all advertised as "all 21 pin connected" as opposed to the ones I was replacing, which are 9 pin scarts from Poundland.

I ordered a variety of lengths & I received them the next day, however the smaller length cables to do not seem to be much fatter than the 9 pin scarts from Poundland.

I was under the impression that 21 cable scarts are supposed to be fatter.

In this photo, the cable on the left is the 1.2m scart & the one on the right is the 5m scart. Shouldn't they be the same fatness?

In this photo, the 9 pin cable from Poundland is on the left, the 1.2m cable is in the middle and the 5m cable is on the righ. The 2 on the right are supposed to be all 21 pin connected:

Not always. The thickness just depends on how thick the black plastic is and how well the cables are screened inside.

Yeah I think it's just down to the manufacturers on whether or not the cable is made thicker than normal or not, they can use it as a selling point for instance along with the typical "Gold Plated!" approach.

Thanks :)

Isn't gold plated supposed to be better than the silver ones from Poundland?

Unscrew the round bit at the end of the socket and the scart housing block thinggy just opens up. You can then see how they're wired up.
