Just think of all that light.
Some people get all the fun.
Some interesting shots there. It astounds me how much a lot of this state of the art space gear looks like it's been built in someones shed. The pics have a great clarity to them too I guess because of the lack of pollution up there.

Heh, I just realised that.. All that light, and bugger all to get in the way.

I'm guessing the pilot whipped his Casio out whilst his mates were doing the spacewalk.
"Oi, Dave, come on, put yer arm round Pete and give us the thumbs up!"

they are some cracking shots, i read somewhere that NASA have a deal Nikon and they were using D2X's up there, but dont quote me on it.
Yup, NASA use a lot of Nikon: link (http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/news/Nikon_cameras_in_NASA_shuttle_launches_news_138495.html), though I wonder if they void the warranty regreasing the cameras?
They even converted the F4 to a digital camera:
The standard Nikon F4 film body was converted to digital by placing a one megapixel monochrome CCD at the film plane. The battery-operated Electronic Still Camera (ESC) retained all the features of the F4 camera body and accepted any lens or optics with a Nikon mount. Nikkor lenses used on STS-48 included a 20mm f/2.8 AF, 35-70mm f/2.8 AF, 50mm f/1.2 and 180mm f/2.8 AF.

I was going to add that I thought they used Nikon gear.
I've always wondered why no one tried to manufacture a film canister replacement which has a digital sensor for the aftermarket.
I think Leica did one for their (overpriced) rangefinders some time ago.
