Ricky ******* Gervais? Now come on, that's taking the **** and will just end up fuelling his ego even more. Although nice to see Helen Mirren grabbing an Oscar, a Golden Globe and now an Emmy in one year.

Tremendous to finally see Terry O'Quinn getting the recognition he deserves. Not to mention Jaime Pressly and Ari ******* Gold....

I think that E! are showing a 2 hr version again at 8pm this evening for those who want to see it.

(I spent ages looking for a channel that was showing it as it's usually been on Living in the past).

I just can't get excited about the Emmy winners this year. Some worthy winners for sure but it's all a tad meh!

I look forward to hours upon hours of Ricky Gervais ironically boasting about his Emmy. :|

I don't think there's ever been a more worthy winner of an award than Jeremy Piven for Entourage.

The man just lights up the screen every time he's on it. Ari and Lloyd sould have their own show.

He's won two years running now!

Havent heard anything about this 30 Rock, is it any good?

And so glad Ari won it again :D

Yeah, I haven't seen much of it but 30 Rock seems pretty good.

I like Ricky Gervais but he didn't deserve the award.

Exactly what i can't be arsed with. Ooh, look i've got an Emmy to add to my 2 Globes and my 3 Baftas. I'd have more respect for him this time round if he actually shut up about it.

I do like Gervais a lot of the time but I really don't see him in the same category of actor as Tony Shaloub, Alec Baldwin or Steve Carrell (somewhat ironically.....).

Incidentally, South Park's "Make Love Not Warcraft" won the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Programme at the Creative Arts Emmys last week. And BSG's "Exodus Pt 2" won Best Visual Effects! That's more like it.

Yeah - it was shown on BBC America.
They show Hollyoaks and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare as well I think.

Great to see 30 Rock win something but better than the Office? ... Ehhh, no. I agree with others, Baldwin should have won his category with ease & well done Terry O'Quinn.

Good to see Spader win for Boston Legal, always a very worthy performance.

he's certainly not as good an actor as those, but he's a better comedian than all 3 put together

I reckon Baldwin should have won it for his phone rant to his daughter earlier in the year

Robby
17-09-2007, 15:24
If Robby was on the Emmy award panel:

Actor in a drama series - Bill Paxton, Big Love

Actress in a comedy series - Mary Louise Parker, Weeds

Actress in a drama series - Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights

Actor in a comedy series - Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock

TonyG

Robby, surely that should read...

Hottest MILF in a TV drama series - Connie Britton, Friday Night Lights ;)

Actor in a comedy
Ricky Gervais (Extras)
Alec Baldwin (30 Rock)
Steve Carell (The Office)
Tony Shalhoub (Monk)
Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men) I'd go for Alec Baldwin or Steve Carell over Gervais to be honest, when I read the results this morning, I was sure I read it wrong!

Can't believe The Daily Show beat The Colbert Report either

Well yeah!, That goes without saying, although she's got some serious competition from Nancy in Weeds and Eileen Caffee from Brotherhood.

Oh and Margene in Big Love .. and that 30 something from Tell Me You Love Me!.

We could be here some time :D

EDIT: Rita in Dexter

Colbert won't be happy - Barry Manilow beat him for "Individual performance in a variety, musical or comedy program" last year and now Tony Bennett. I can see him spending quite some time on tonight's show acting bitter about it!

So was The Wire in contention this year, or was Series 4 shown last year in the States. I find it hard to believe that something so well crafted could be completely ignored again!

And Deadwood S3 was eligible for this year's Emmy's (it went just too late for last year's) - and there was no trace of it anywhere from what I could see.

Unless HBO just didn't nominate it to keep the way clear for The Sopranos?

According to imdb The Wire has only been nominated for one Emmy.

What makes it even worse is seeing what has been nominated in the years The Wire has been on the air.

General consensus on the net seems to be....

- it's too "black"
- it's too complex for the casual viewer
- due to the way the voting works, most of the voters won't even have seen it

Hopefully with its last season being put back til Jan 08, The Wire will be well placed for nomination next year. It's got to get some recognition in its last year.

Providing S5 is any good, of course...
