Been thinking about getting a photobook done for my Mum's 60th b-day - it'd have to be top-notch quality, though.
Anyone got any contenders? I've seen myphotobook.co.uk and fotobook.co.uk - does anyone have any experience of these two?
I'm really interested in the print and binding quality and the quality of the paper used?
Thanks...

Software is awesome, prices are cheap, postage isnt much...
I used Photobox (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1137&id=30372) during their BOGOF offers. Very good I thought. The hardback ones were good indeed. Used Albumfactory for a smaller sot backed one and again was impressed with the results.
If you do one.. I will say that the full size puictures do look stunning on a single page rather than multiples pics.

Another :thumbs:for Photobox (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1137&id=30372) here - got two books delivered for £22.39.
One had additional pages - the way the bogoff code works is that you only pay for the cheaper one.

Another vote for Photobox photobooks! A good range of page layouts and well finished.
There's an offer on at the moment, 2 photobooks for the price of 1.
Photobox offer (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1137&id=30372&p=http://www.photobox.co.uk/widestatic/newsletter.html)
There's lots of other items on the above link.
i've used a few and the best i've found is www.myphotobook.co.uk. they are based in germany i think, and delivery is about 5 days from upload but the quality was pretty much awesome. i've only used the hardback version - they're just like a proper book - top quality. i've not seen all the different versions - they do a few types from soft to hard back etc.
the software is simple to use too.
I ordered a book from blurb the other week and stupidly chose the economy post option and it still hasn't arrived yet :(
They seem much better value page for page than photobox though - £10.95 for up to 80 pages on a 10x8 book
There have been some reports of printing and binding issues but it's difficult to know how bad it is in relation to how many get sold

Glad to hear your photobook has arrived Taq. You're obviously happy with the printing and binding. :)
How long did it take?
iirc the actual printing took about 3 days (which was quicker than they estimated) and then the shipping took about 2 weeks in the end.
I've ordered three copies of the book I'm doing at the moment for various people, and oddly the UPS delivery works out only slightly more expensive for that, plus it should only take 2 days and is trackable!

The free shipping is US only but you can get $7.00 off the shipping anywhere else.
Got my 80 page book through today (ordered about 2 days *after* the free shipping offer :( ) and I'm again very happy with the quality, so with free shipping it's deffo worth a punt!

Got my book yesterday. Very pleased with it.
I did one through photobox as well a few months ago. So will compare the two.
The Blurb book uses software that you run on your computer.
Photobox uses AxtiveX software on the web.
I found the latter to be problomatic at times and even lost images which was very frustrating.
The photobox book uses a stiffer paper for the cover. The Blurb book uses the same paper throughout but the cover has a gloss to it.
Photobox book cost me £20 for 2 x 20 page books using the BOGOF offer, both books had different contents. Photobox has offers on all the time so check their site.
Blurb book cost me £10 for one book of 40 pages using the $7 off shipping code.
Difficult to say which of the two books are better but I feel I would probably use Blurb again as the software is so much more user friendly.
Shipping code finishes today. See post above.

Just recieved a photobox book of our wedding piccies. Really impressed!
Just ordered my first Photo Book from PhotoBox (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=136). Thought the software was ok to use (uses Flash), trouble was I didn't realise I needed so many images, I thought I could remove pages.
Will let you know how it turns out, haven't used them for a while.

I've used photbox ans did 3 hardback books in their 3 for 2 a while ago, well impressed, excellent results and are on the coffee table. They are magnetic - people are drawn to them and thumb through them all the time - great stuff and I'll use them again ..

Just recieved my Blurb photobook, printing is a little dark but that could be my monitor calibration to be honest. Still £18 for a 40 page hardback with dust jacket I thought was a bit of a bargain. The software to build the book itself is pretty cool and the options are pretty much limitless! I shall be ordering more :)
Well got mine today and it's just ok, not brilliant but not bad either.
Dave
I've tried Photobox a few times and they seem to be the most consistent - my last photobook came from www.mypublisher.com - I was reasonably happy with the result, but a few photos seem to come out looking extremely oversharpened. They weren't too bad, but of course I know what they're supposed to be like so it's somewhat annoying. But it could be something to do with the downsizing process. They do warn you about submitting very large MP photos (which most of mine were as they came from a DSLR). Unfortunately, I only noticed that warning afterwards otherwise I would have resized them beforehand.
Robert
The book just doesn't have a glossy look to it. I have printed some of the images myself and they look 10 times better.
