Would it be better for me to put my surrond sound speakers (I have an Aiwa Home theatre system), on stands (the rear ones) or mount them on the walls?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

put them on the walls, not more than eighteen inches above ear listening height. if you are a greater distance from your back wall than 4feet put them on the side walls if you can. experiment.

Personally I` d put them on some stands, then you can experiment with their position without having to drill holes in your walls:)

Thanks for your reply's guys....

One vote for the walls and one for stands!!!

Perhaps I'll get the kids to hold them up for a while and pretend they are the stands and I can test that way!!

Thanks again

Speakers will generally sound better if placed on sturdy, preferably filled stands. If you have solid brick walls you will get away with it, but the reflections will be greater.

Another one for stands if you have the space. Offers better flexiblity in postioning and looks better.

putting the rear speakers on stands at the height recomended by dolby ie between 1 and 3 ft. above listening ear geight would look a bit daft.

putting mine on the walls would look daft, each to their own I guess :)

Thats the first time I have seen the upward firing rears configuration. Still, no good for my rear ported Mx1's!
