As the resident sad Evil Dead fanatic I think I can help out
basically the footage from the bootleg which is grainy is the only way they could restore it without an expensive digital clean up into the dvd ( story goes they found this footage in Bruce Campbells shed ) so it is a bit deteriorated this is due to the rights problems surrounding all of The Evil Dead films it seems everyone owns a peice of these films .....therefore any restoration is from the Film-makers private collections
so yes the grainy stuff is the added scenes
is it worth buying the other version too, to get the other ending
ps its probably the greatest film of all time, im well impressed
I to am pondering getting the Bootleg cut.I have already posted this in another thread, but no luck, maybe here.
I already have the Anchor Bay THX version.Should i get the Bootleg for the extra.
And by the way,i also lve the film.
someone posted that theres book of the dead editions coming of that and evil dead 2, might wait for that

If you have the THX version get the bootleg if you reeeeeeeally like the movie only, because it may be a bit too "Wacky" for some tastes namely certain parts of the mini ash scene are Over the top .....but they grow on you in time
supposedly there is going to be ED2 and AOD book of the deads depending on the sucess of this one PLUS a mysterious fourth disk ......im getting a bit peeved with Anchor bay milking the Evil cash cow to death
But im a compulsive completist so its my own fault for funding there exploits

Get it ... definitely. I also have the THX version too ... but it is worth buying the 'bootleg' just for the legendary Bruce Campbell/Sam Raimi commentary. Very funny !!
Well worth having the two versions IMO !!!
