They haven't done anything like this for a long time, they must be desperate to get some new subscribers to the sports channels.

It's the first time I can remember Sky Sports ever having a free period. The battle with Setanta hots up...

I was temped to say they had never done it before but I wasn't sure if they had done anything like this before I joined them over 12 years ago :suspect:

If they really want to compete with Setanta dropping their prices and doing away with the yearly increases on some packages would help.

So do those of us who pay for Sky Sports get those days knocked off the sub as well?

I am a Sky Sports subscriber and I doubt that very much.

As an early-adopter SkyHD <strike>mug</strike> customer, I got two free box-office movies recently, and am still recovering from the shock.
Could be worth phoning them though - they may be having a funny five minutes.

And if you don't usually subscribe to the Sports package you can watch the 20/20 cricket tournament for free as well:

They did it around 96/7 - a West Ham/Man Utd game was part of the free weekend of Sky Sports.

I was thinking the same, its effectively a weeks worth of sub as well imo, because all the stuff worth watching happens at the weekend

I have but I cancelled the extra £10 for HD as it wasn't worth it.
