View Full Version : £199 Flight to NYC
on the Zoom Site, selected dates only, i used them last month very very basic in flight, but you get a meal, snacks and drinks. worth for that price.
Zoom Airlines (http://www.flyzoom.com/) - I've flown them to Canada a few times and apart from mucking me about with flight times in advance in one instance they're not too bad.

is that one way or return?

Return. They do it like the other budget airlines where they quote the prices each way so you can get the cheapest return deals.
well, judging by the previous thread http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=484209 and also airline reviews at http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/zoom.htm i would probably go the extra £40 and fly British Airways (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-10394106) - they've got a "world sale" on at the minute. (£239 is the cheapest, booking conditions apply - selected dates etc...)

I've booked for new york with them for Oct, used some 20% off code they had over the summer, and its £240 for PE on way back and extra leg room on way out, sounds good to me.
leg room is important :D
£99 extra each way for PE to/from NYC on BA, which i think makes for a cheap PE deal (£440rtn?).
i've read so many bad stories about zoom (especially with regard to delays) on that airlinequality site, that i'd see choosing zoom over ba to save £40 as a bit of a gamble. ymmv though...

sorry i meant it was £240 all in with pe on way back (extra £30 on a night flight) and extra £30 on way out for extra leg room seat.
no one goes to airline quality to praise do they?

I was tempted with Zoom (because of the price) a few months back but changed my mind when I saw that a good proportion of their flights have a stop-over in Bermuda!!! What's that about??? Is it the scenic route as that is one hell of a diversion?!?!

Maybe that's why they're cheap? Good job it's not the 70's or else they'd only make it to the triangle and then vanish.
yeah i had a 40 min delay once sat on the plane each way, but heck at the time i wante to fly it was £100 cheaper than BA - so for some it will meet the needs

I'd be pretty happy to go with Zoom at this price. I paid more than £100 extra for BA flights and they lost my baggage at both ends. Zoom, I never had any problems with when I flew with them before.
The luggage thing isn't really the airlines fault - its the Airport's. I've had BA lose luggage at Heathrow.

i'm leaving 5 hour gap at jfk to avoid any hassles.
And you can have issues and delays and lost baggage with any plane/airline.
just prepare for it (i've checked travel insuramce, i'd be covered for night in hotel at jfk and rebooking flight to orlando the next day), and have spair clothes in your take on luggage.
slightly off topic but BA normally run their own baggage handling (the only airline I know that do this) and they've lost my bags once too many times. I've used Zoom quite a lot out to Poland for work and they were pretty good, not as good as Easyjet but better than Ryanair (however Ryanair have never lost my bags).
