Never be scare of blowing out the highlights, check these guys out. They make a living out of it, and some wondering pictures too. I wonder how they get the colours like that, it's sooooooooooooo rich you can almost touch it.

Some of the photos are not technically perfect, slight top of the head cut off, a bit noisy (seems to be a trait), even slightly out of focus in a couple even. But composition is always spot on, and the moment is captured which is the most important thing.

And a great track !

Reminds me of Venture. Do a search on "high key" or browse this flickr group here (http://www.flickr.com/groups/highkey/).
There's also some playing with vignetting and focus with some of the shots, possibly using a lomo-esque filter (look at this flickr group here (http://www.flickr.com/groups/lomofakersunite/)).

I think they are great - The images in the blogs have a very "natural" feel to them ... it's a style of photography I really enjoy.

The one of the little girl looking in the mirror (5th down on 9.6.07 - at the zoo) I think is fantastic

Some of the wedding shots there make me want to pack up and cry.

Freaky timing - I was just wondering if you'd popped in there to take a look :D

Not re the wedding stuff but I get the same feel from many of your shots of your little one Guy - they are very natural and "warm" captures ... hard to explain...

(and I should clarify ... I wasn't dissing your wedding stuff ... I meant my comment that followed wasn't in relation to your wedding stuff ... .... oh ******** - you know what I mean :suspect:)

Hell - just had a look at their wedding stuff too now ... I've often thought I should give it a go ... as you say may as well not even bother now

I like the informal candid quality of the photos - some do look to be staged (could be an american thing) but the overall quality and more inportantly the impact is fantastic and must have been very time consuming

It is almost the ultimate advantage of digital over Film - take 100s of shots and choose choose choose.

I really enjoy this style too. Lifestyle mixed with photo journalism and documentary style photography. There are a fair number of these kinds of photographers blogging. I think a lot are connected via open source photo.
