View Full Version : Inverto 80GB Freeview PVR - £59.99 with £5.99 in Boots Points
Mega bargain from boots, only 43 left @ time of posting so won't last long. Inverto @ Boots (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p(4907)a(60823)g(38424)url(http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1065137))
They had a psp bundle on there for less than £50 too - crazy!
Don't need a PVR though - must resist
sold! thankyou. I've been waiting around for a few months for a cheap PVR with decent reviews. Don't watch enough TV to justify a toppy or humax but seemed pointles buying one of those digifusion ones with iffy reviews. This one has decent reviews and is a nice price!

Cheers OP, got one. Shame the PSP bundle had gone, that would have been the icing on the cake.
Just ordered one of these - seemed a good bargain so didnt even read up any reviews, trusting you target! been waiting for one of these for ages!
Thanks OP

They have an INVERTO freeview box for £9.99 as well. Add one to order and I think there is an offer of more points if you spend over £60. Can publicise here for rules.

Now out of stock! I was in the final stages of going through the checkout when it came up with that message. Tried ordering this afternoon but for some reason the process got stuck on the 'Verified with Visa' page - even though my card isn't registered. I'm gutted!!

It's a excellent PVR. I paid £149.99 for mine and it has been worth it at that price.
lots of stuff on here that looks pretty useful for those who managed to get it.

Is this 160gb Freeview PVR for £51 (http://www.unbeatablegadgets.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?products_id=171&osCsid=2635da0a429c9b99427fafd083b0f4f1) any good?

Only problem with the Inverto I found was that the optical audio out didn't work, apparently it is a common fault, so switched to a Humax instead.

But surely with Freeview you're only going to get stereo anyway? i.e. no real advantage whether optical is available or not - unless of course your AV amp had only optical inputs....

Optical can be stereo too.
I use the optical on my one as it goes through a Joytech Switchbox which allows me to have four opticals devices into my one optical in on my av amp. It's also easier then fiddling around with lots of phono cables and having to put the amp on a different input for each device. My way, the amp stays on DVD and I just switch to what I want to use (two pvr's, one x box and one DVD Player)

I was under the impression that some things might be transmitted with more than stereo on freeview? But other than that, just couldn't be bothered with phono connections.

You not get any better than Dolby Pro Logic 1 or 2 with Freeview where it converts the stereo into surround.

These. (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=14805920)
It also:
Doesn't support teletext.
Only allows you to record one program at a time.
Doesn't support interactive services.

my parents machine was delivered - it seems reliable but i set it up yesterday about 6pm and it still hasnt got tv listings - this happened with the digifusion one they had before - is there anything i can do? they really need the listings as its gonna help them record stuff (they KEEP messing up timer recordings).
all they had yesterday was the current programmes, ie. whats on now. today they dont even have that.
thanks

When you first plug it in it uses Freeview's now and next epg. It will update to the new listing at 3am and each night it adds another days worth of programming. It takes about 30 minutes to download and boot up back to standby. All Freeview PVR's do this.
If it doesn't do this then it usually means a aerial/reception problem.

thanks. does it need to be in standby do you think at 3am?
the last one didnt do the update either but they get a v good picture, and the tv, which has freeview built in, has the listings fine.

It does normally need to be standby. If it is on then a message comes up and it starts the update process. If anything is playing or being recorded it gets stopped. That is the only bad thing about it. My other PVR doesn't do the update if it is recording at the time.
Built in Freeview uses the normal Freeview epg that updates live all the time. These PVR uses a special one that has to be downloaded and it not updated live.

If you are moving something to DVD overnight you can always unplug the aerial. I believe that prevents the update.
Also the guide on the inverto forum (http://www.invertoforum.co.uk/)is much better than the one that comes with the machine.

Yes that will prevent the update. I also believe archiving recordings at the time will also stop it but that uses the vcr scart when I use the TV scart.
