yes, 8 eps i think it was. If it does well, it'll be expanded to a full season.

Not sure when it starts though.

I heard it'll start mid-season (Around January) to replace one of CBS's new shows that had poor ratings.

CBS’s ‘Jericho’ Could Return Next Month
—Or Next Year
By James Hibberd Television Week

“Jericho” fans, get ready to go nuts.

There’s a slim chance the CBS cult favorite could return to the air next month.

The seven-episode second season has wrapped production and the network is eyeing the show as a potential replacement for one of several time periods that might open up in the coming weeks. In other words, if freshman efforts “Kid Nation,” “Cane,” “Moonlight” or the upcoming “Viva Laughlin” tank in the ratings, CBS is considering firing out “Jericho.”

CBS’ other midseason drama, "Swingtown," is not going to be ready until next year, though network also has “The Amazing Race” and game show “Power of 10” available to fill one-hour slots. CBS scheduling head Kelly Kahl cautioned that the new freshman lineup is performing solidly and that no show is guaranteed the next opening.

“The best thing going for ‘Jericho’ is it’s done and ready to go,” Kahl says. “But it’s too early to tell what time period is going to be available.”

Last season "Jericho" aired Wednesdays at 8 p.m., the time period now held by "Nation." Though the slots occupied by "Nation," "Cane," "Laughlin" and "Moonlight" all have their pros and cons as potential "Jericho" homes, sources said "Jericho" is considered a viable alternate for any of them. (Just what controversy-weary "Nation" producer Tom Forman needs -- nut-flinging "Jericho" fans assailing him to get out of their time slot).

If the current CBS schedule holds through November, “Jericho” will likely return in January.

Someone needs to create a US TV stockexchange site. Canceldaq.

BUY JERICHO, SELL MOONLIGHT.

It's a shame they are only creating 7 episodes of season 2, I have just started watching season 1 and I am hooked.

I suppose they can't drag the plot on for too long.

Just finished off watching S1 and I can't beleive they finished it like that and they were going to leave it like that with no closure, no wonder everyone created a fuss and the next 7 episodes will just be finishing it off.

Loving this series.

Are there any plans to do more than seven after the writer's strike ends?

I don;t think so - which is a real shame as it was one of the best shows from the states last year imo.

All they said was that if the viewing figures for these seven episodes were good, then there's a chance it will continue, but, if not, the 7th episode has a satisfactory conclusion to the series.

Leaking the first 3 episodes early probably doesn't help with the viewing figures either :(

That kinda thing happens waaay too much these days. It's more likely that it's been done by the studio to generate some early publicity for the return of the show. I'm sure it won't impact on the viewing figures that much.

I'm about 15 ep's in and enjoying it tremendously. Feels a lot like a Stephen King story and I can't believe it got canned either. Some of the early ep's were a bit slow which probably put people off.

...Some of the early ep's were a bit slow which probably put people off.
The ratings for the first half of the season were actually very good & the makers of the show were confident of a greenlit 2nd series. Unfortunately the mid-season break was very long & viewing figures dropped considerably on its return, which was bizarre as it was actually better than the first half. That's American viewers for ya!

I suspect the leaks are deliberate, as the big bump in viewing figures for ep4, will give it a stronger 2nd half than first... hope so. It's a good little programme.
