Hello All,

I've been looking at the SANYO 28WN5 28" Widescreen TV and can't find a review of it anywhere online, Has anyone got one ? and if so are they any good ? major flaws etc ? I'm not too bothered about Sound, The picture quality is my main concern.

Any advice appreciated.

I have the 28WN4 (predecessor) and the picture quality is so-so, but not out of this world.

The RGB picture is a little dull, with the S-video one being the more colourful of the two. Essentially, though, DVD playback quality is good.

itvDigital pictures are occassionally pixellated, but I think this is more down to the signal than the TV. Analogue TV looks pretty washed out, but again that's mainly down to signal anyway.

The sound isn't too bad, but if you're planning on using it as a monitor in a home cinema set up, it will do the job fine and dandy.

Having said that connectivity is woeful : two SCART sockets (one RGB enabled, the other can be selected as S-Video), no audio outputs at all, no S-video connections, and definitely no component video - there is the usually array of AV3 style sockets in a pull down flap under the screen.

The Feb edition of What HiFi has a review of the 32WP5 - essentially the same TV, but with on board ProLogic decoding. They actually liked the picture quality, and certainly for DVDs it's the business. Just don't expect miracles in the sound department.

Hope this helps mate :)
