What's the difference between this set (not actually out for another month) and the 2004 set? Apart from the old one costing £475 at Virgin

Sounds like the old discs are just repackaged.

I spent over £400 on mine. :( It was 5 years though.

Hmm sounds good for £90 with my Virgin CC, wish they would do the same with the original series and DS9

I'm amazed it appears to be coming out here first, and is much cheaper here in the UK than it will be in US. That must be a first. :) I'm not complaining.

TNG was originally released on DVD first so they would do it first. It has been up to a year between each series being released.

Serious? I didn't think they would sell.

I'll put them on later and see if they sell. They are in excellent condition.

Those who paid £70 a season will be sick now. I know I well be in a few years when the DS9 pack gets released. Anyone want 89 VHS's?

MrJambo

OK - I admit it, it's a Friday, I just got back from the pub, I'm bored, this beats doing some work.

Assuming you get this for £90 using your virgin CC.

(£90 / 49) = £1.84 per DVD
(£90 / 7) = £12.86 per season
(£90 / 176) = 51p per episode
(£90 / (176 x 45)) = 1.13p per minute :)

Anyway you cut this, it is a barg! and I can't wait until September 24th

88, surely? :suspect: I sold my DS9 videos about 4 years ago at £1 per tape :( But now still looking for the fat/original pack DS9 season 5.

OK I'll sling a "Jonathan Ross' Guide to Star Trek Generations" still cellophane sealed to bring it to 89

When anyone recieves the boxset could they confirm that it is the same 'green' boxset as the pictures on Amazon and Virgin? Just I was half watching an advert on TV for the boxset the other day and it looked nothing like said box, more like the current slimlines in large amarays!

Mr Postie just arrived. It is exactly as pictured and described in this thread. Actually it looks stunning :) A very nice green.

I've had a chance to break the shrink wrap now and have a peak inside. The packaging is a bit odd.

The disks are all held firmly and correctly, so that much works well. The outer clear plastic sleave also has lid, but I think it is easier to just slide the whole thing off. That could be a bit flimsy. Also the outer cardboard that details the contents is just stuck on, almost as if you are supposed to remove it, I think I'll leave it there for now, unless it gets in the way.

It could be a bit tricky to return to over and over again to remove disks, could be a bit fiddly. If I was designing it I could have done a better job, still it would probably have cost more :)

Can someone do some pics of it? I am curious to see what it really looks like. I never liked the original packaging (cracked 15 discs) so have been using my own.

Very, very tempted....

By the time you make your mind up they'll have released a new new version with "even more extras" on HD-DVD's so they can pack 1 season to a disc. ;)

I'm still wavering......

You mean 4 episodes, no way they will ever fit an entire season on a single HD-DVD.

T4V
10-11-2007, 14:43
If you can get 4 SD eps to a DVD you could get at least a dozen (in SD) on an HD-DVD.

nwgarratt

If you can get 4 SD eps to a DVD you could get at least a dozen (in SD) on an HD-DVD.

But what is the point on having HD capability if the episodes are still SD? That is pointless. All, it does it stops people from swapping discs. Also, scratch that disc and half a season of episodes could be affected.
