And there was much rejoicing.

Hopefully they won't bring it back ever. **** nostalgic celebrity come backs.

If they would cancel BB 2008 as well perhaps we can get something worth watching on C4 next year.

Naaa, they'll just resurrect some 'Salon' type clone. C4 don't like spending money on TV anymore, they just import or do some reality ******** (apart from Shameless which seems to be their only half-decent series.)

Thank god for that. Now if they'll take BB away too, I'll be happy. How loooooong has it been on for now, awful thing.

guess I'm the lone voice thinking that it's a shame

stopped watching normal BB this year, but the celebrity one is normally pretty good viewing

would've thought the whole race row last year added to the viewers = more revenue for C4?

No one forces you to watch it - the list of TV Shows I hate is pretty vast, I don't want them simply axed off TV as a result though

Thanks jade for killing off the only BB worth watching.

You would if they clogged up the schedules like BB does. It goes on for weeks, hours of scheduling filled by utter ****.

Probably couldn't persuade anyone to appear on it.

The absence of Celebrity Big Brother will leave Channel 4 with 29 hours of programming to fill in January alone.

That simple sentence tells you what a creative void C4 has become as a result of it's slavish reliance on Big Brother.

I have no doubt there will always be plenty of ex celeb's desperate to try and relaunch some sort of career again.:gag:

29 hours to fill in 1 month

i can imagine the scheduler has some great ideas 'hey lets show 29 hours of friends'

they'll just have to show Friends as much as E4 does

They dug their own graves to be honest, they had quite a decent line up for this years BB and totally ruined it by putting Goody and family in the house.

Well it's 3 weeks i think so even worse.

Either they could not find good enough celebs are the ones that did want to appear wanted to either know who else was going in or more money.

CBB 2006 was great TV, they really messed up this year with Jade (even before the race row)

Edit- Beaten to it ;)

29 hours worth of programming on one thing is crazy though - all the hassle it's going to cause them, it makes me wonder why they've got rid of it at all. The 'race row' issue will surely have died down come Christmas, and if not, will one year of 'resting' the show really make a difference? We're still getting regular Big Brother 9 I see.

Anyone notice that they are using it as a excuse to reduce funding for US shows by £10 million.

For all the rejoicing at the demise of CBB 2008, it looks like they won't be bailing themselves out with American shows and the 2 replacement shows that have been announced don't inspire me at all.

I agree, three weeks is long enough, in my opinion. I enjoyed BB7, good characters and worth watching. I wanted to enjoy this season but found it so depressing. Channel 4 should retire BB altogether in 2008. Time to rethink and possibly re-invent the format. Perhaps the way to go is to combine CBB with BB taking the best elements from both.

Nearly the best news ever!

Now all the need to do is axe BB!

I'd rather watch 29 hours of static than BB or CBB.

I'd hope that C4 are forced to produce decent programmes now but I doubt that will happen.

Or how about scrap the Film4 channels and bring the films back into C4, together with some decent film documentaries (less of the "ooo it's extreme cinema, look at me poncing about in some shock cinema set" Kermode crap though).

They were just film introductions weren't they? I quite enjoyed them actually - just a little extra insight into the movie before you watched it, without giving anything away.

Not if it's the career suicide the last one looks like being for the chavchicks.
