What was your first CD you every brought?
I think my was It's Better to Travel by Swing Out Sister!
I got 3 CDs free with my first CD player which I bought early in 1985. They were
Rush - Moving Pictures
Genesis - And Then There Were Three
Dire Straits - Love Over Gold
Mine was Metallica - Black Album i got the CD player and that CD on the same day.

I left it quite late, for me it was Re-Animator - Condemned to Eternity/Deny Reality in about 1989.
I can still remember the massive dilemma trying to decide over the vinyl or cd versions - the cd version had an ep bundled as bonus tracks but that would mean not being able to listen to it whilst I saved for the cd player.
Edit - the cd player cost me £350 when I got it, a lot of money for the 18 year old me back then. It was a top of the range Sony Discman portable thing (think it was the D-35) and seemed amazing at the time - big lcd screen with decent graphic equalizer etc and packed with functionality, great battery life etc. Only problem was that about 3 months later I found that there were CD's that this model just would not play for some reason.

I think my first disc was Brothers in Arms bought in 1986 still using my original CD player- a Marantz CD63SE which cost around £300 then!!
Mine was 'I Want To Hear It From You' - Go West CD single in 1987. I'm rather ashamed to admit that.
I was only 14.
My first CD was Kate Bush's Hounds Of Love, in 1988 - followed rapidly (might even have been the same day) by Morrissey's first solo album, Viva Hate.
First CD player (bought on the same day) was an Alba cheapo - which cost a miniscule £90!!

Same here, I bought my first CD player, Viva Hate & Prince's Around The World In A Day all on the same day in 1988

The first CD that I ever bought was Document by R.E.M., purchased in early September 1988. I needed something to play on the Marantz CD273SE that my sister had temporarily loaned me.
In late October 1988 I bought my first CD player, a Cambridge Audio CD2. I do remember taking two other CDs with me for player evaluation purposes. They were Robbie Robertson's debut solo album and the recently released Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys. I probably owned a half a dozen CDs by the time that I got my own disk spinner.
My first CD was The House of Love. Took me ages till I could afford a cd player. It was a portable Goodmans POS. :p

They Might Be Giants - Miscellaneous T, complete in its long cardboard case.
I bought my first CD hi-fi (£400 for a Sanyo with no remote - when I was earning about £1.80 per hour part time at the Co-op!) in July 1989. Then on the same shopping trip (had to wait for delivery!) I bought Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Metallica - Ride the Lightning, Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction and two albums by The Cult - Sonic Temple and Dreamtime.
Although, I do think that the first CD I actually bought was a Nuclear Assault CD single for a friends birthday, before I even got a player.

My mate was the drummer in Re-Animator. They were very big in Germany you know, just like David Hasslehoff.

I think the first CD I owned was Bananarama - Greatest Hits :oh-hum:
The first one I bought for myself was, I think, Black Sabbath - Sabotage, so a bit of a change in style!

I got a ropey Queen album. The one with the dodgy morphed faces cover.
It went along with my Phillips portable cd radio combo in my bed room.
The album wasn't very good but it had loads of stereo effects that sounded like the sounds of the future being pumped into my head.

Bought my first CD player in 1991, a Marantz CD60, which is still going strong for a friend. CD was Introducing the Hardline by Terence Trent D'Arby.

I had some portable "ghetto blaster" CD player bought for me in the early 90s. The first CD I owned was...
Boom Boom Shake the Room - Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
:D
My first ever CD was Deep Purple's live album 'Nobody's Perfect' in 1988 which I still have :)
I left it quite late, for me it was Re-Animator - Condemned to Eternity/Deny Reality in about 1989.
Coincidentally I also had that CD (pretty obscure even back then) and saw them live in Wrexham's old Memorial Hall at about that time.
Can "Tago Mago" Summer 1989.
Iron Maiden- Powerslave. And still not ashamed of it. Its a fine album I still listen to.
I think mine was that belinda carlisle album, as she was sexy and top of the charts at the time 85-86 ish. Not as bad as a mate who got the Rick astley album!!
