I`ve never been so sad in my life.HKL in the Netherlands has all the same titles as in the UK,sooner or later. But the Dutch fans also get`s : Gen-X-cops,A Better Tomorrow,THE BLADE and BICHINMOO (Platinum Edition-dir cut?)

So it`s likely that the 17 Golden Princess titles that is to be released in the Uk is NOT the total deal that they got.The total amount of titles is surely much higher, they only don`t want to tell us that we`re not going to get.************!!!!!

I`m not surprised if they got Hard Boiled in the deal with Golden Princess.ONLY WITH DUTCH SUBTILES.Why must the UK be tormented with the raped release of Hard Boiled from Tartan. And the awfull release of The Blade from Hong Kong Classics

Read the schedule your self:

I suppose it never crossed your mind that HKL can't get the UK rights to these films because they're already owned by other UK distributors? Titles like Gen-X, ABT & Blade probably won't have English subs, but Bichunmoo just may have.

It's not HKLs fault that some crappy distributor got the rights before them is it? At least they've made sure that the Dutch don't miss out.

HKL make no secret that their titles are released in the Netherlands.
I dont see what your problem is ?, The Dutch may get HKL titles sooner than the UK on rare occasions, but more often than not they get released here first and the DVD sold in the Netherlands is exactly the same, hence Dutch subs on HKL UK releases.
From the Dutch point of view, they often have to put up with getting a poor deal as their releases have been through the BBFC cutting machine first.
So things which are perfectly acceptable in the Netherlands will still get cut off the Dutch DVD because it may not be acceptable in the UK.
The titles which arent released in the UK are due to distribution rights. Likewise, there are probably UK HKL titles which wont get released in the Netherlands.

I don't know whether there are Dutch subs on all UK releases, but is there something stopping HKL from putting english subs on Dutch exclusive titles? I mean there ARE english subs for non-english dvds, which were not meant for distribution in an english speaking country.

Unless some outside force wants to prevent the Dutch HKL's from containing english subs (like the Cristophe Gans HK DVDs)... can anyone shed any light on this?

Purpledump, I think you've answered your own question there.
The fact that alot of films have also been sold to companies such as di$ney who have all english speaking country rights for titles they obtain. It's a bit of both the owners of the films and the companies that own the rights that restrict releases. The use of english subtitles actually seem to cost a bit of cash it seems as it seems to be tied in with rights issues and contracts. It's just so complex... "booo~!"

Bwuhahaaha...

Sorry but I live in Belgium and this is good news for me :)

Anyway, we don't get every release that the UK gets.
And no, Gen-X-Cops doesn't contain english subs.

And I hope we get Hard Boiled as well, we only have a dubbed VHS version at the moment.
