Hi all

As the title says, I'm after a TV at about that price, not really any higher. I've seen a few in Comet that are nearer a grand that you can get quite a bit cheaper on the net (ie Unbeatable (http://www.unbeatable.co.uk)), but which one.

Suggestions and advice appreciated.

Also, is renting worth considering?

Cheers.:)

Firstly a few suggestions for televisions which are worth looking at (in my opinion).

Philips 32PW6006 - £545-99, inc. cabinet. (unbeatable)
Toshiba 32Z13B - £698-11, inc. cabinet. (www.qed-uk.com)

The latter is an excellent tv - got 5 star review in What Hi fi and video (December 2001 issue). Main points to consider are no 100HZ option and only two scart sockets. The Philips is a good compromise tv though. Also, if you can find a Panasonic TX32DK1 anywhere, that's also good.

Worth running your choices through here (http://www.price-guide.co.uk/index.asp) as you start to narrow down your options. It will just give you a chance to find out what 'ball park' prices are.

Renting can be an option, especially if you want to change your equipment fairly regularly plus you have regular payments but smaller (i.e. if you don't want to spend alot in one go, you can then get something you wouldn't have been able to afford outright). Double check the contract terms. Obviously, you pay more in the longer term though. Another advantage it's easier to get sorted if things go wrong with it, as they can just swap out the old one rather than repair it. It really depends on what you're offered though, in comparison to what's available. A physical shop does at least allow you to go down there and compare properly, rather than rely on other people's opinions.
