I'm trying to figure out the basic chords for What's Going On by A Perfect Circle. I know APC usually tune their guitars to C#, but I'm just trying to strum the simple tonal-sounding chords on acoustic.
I've got the framework down, and it's in the same key as the Marvin Gaye original, but the chords are harmonised differently to that version (same root, but different familes - eg, the Emaj7 is now just an E).
Here's what I got, but some parts of this just don't seem to quite work. Any help much appreciated.
Chord shapes:
Eadd9 0-2-2-1-0-2
C#sus2 x-4-6-6-4-4
Eadd9 E C#m C#sus2
Mother, mother, there's too many of you crying
Eadd9 E C#m C#sus2
Brother, brother, far too many of you dying
F#
You know we've got to find a way
B
To bring some loving here today
F# B
Picket lines and picket signs
F# B
Don't punish me with brutality
F# B
Talk to me so you can see
E C#m
What's going on, what's going on
E C#m
What's going on, what's going on
