View Full Version : Vertical bands on panasonic screen

I'm generally very happy with my Panasonic 32PF10 but the picture sometimes shows 1, 2 or 3 vertical bands, the most noticeable being of the left hand side of the screen. They are generally visible on images of near uniform colour, such as expanses of sky, and appear as bands which are slightly darker than the surrouning area. The effect is never that intrusive but it is noticeable (obviously). Can anyone tell me if this is common with flat screen TVs, or with this model, or with Panasonic TVs? Can it be adjusted from the service menu? Or is it likely to be a fault?

Any guidance on this would be greatly recieved.

Are you sure you don't mean HORIZONTAL bands? Certainly the PK series suffers from these under the circumstances you describe, but only on RGB. I could never live with it.

Yeah I get these lines appearing when I am using RGB. It is only when the colour is bright like white or a blue sky. There are some settings that you can fiddle with which make it more bearable. At first it annoyed me but I have messed about with some of the settings and now I dont really notice it. I have a Panasonic 28 DK1

I have a Panasonic 32PL10C and quite honestly don't remember seeing this phenomenon.

BTW, anybody know how I can access the service manual for this particular model? Need to sort a few geometry niggles.

If it is like the other models it will be:

Bass to max
Treble to min
Hold down index on remote
press minus (-) on front of TV

The bands go from the top to the bottom, so I reckon that's vertical. I don't get any bands going from left to right.

Richy - could you be more specific please with what adjustments you've made. By the way I get the bands through the ariel so that wouldn't be RGB would it?
