The Book People (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wglinkid=7264&wgcampaignid=1766) are doing their lucky dips again. Last time I and a lot of other people got a lot books from this. It was bargaintastic.

I think they have more different age ranges this time but im not sure.

Same, here, and pleased with the set for the cost....especially as there's a free p&p code kicking about.

Good selection of books, as you might expect, a couple of not so interesting ones but overall worth the money.

Checked my 40 books this morning There are 24 I want to read or am at least willing to try. Another 8 that my mum will read, and 8 which are either doubles, or worse than that - quadruples. Yep, I had 4 copies of 1 book - some toss about a birdwatching compeition.

All in all, it was just about worth it. There were even a few books I would have liked to have read anywya, and a load which sound interesting enough.

Very happy with my Under-5s dip.. there was only one that didn't seem appropriate to the collection, most of the others were good and a couple were really good. Tempted to order another, but does anyone know it you usually get many of the same books in each dip?

Very please with under 5's, all very nice books.

Adults is ok. Only a couple of books i actually like the look of, but the rest will be excellent gifts for the wife/mother/grandparents.

Very impressed with the boxes i got. The under 5 box is perfect apart from a Barbie book. (Not my son's thing...)

THe fiction and non fiction had about a 50% hit rate. A couple will be off to the charity shop. (Got the Totternam book as well)

My under 5's wasn't too bad. I added up the total rrp and it came to about £60. Not the £112 thay claimed on their website though!

I got 3x under 5's this morning. Not bad.
All three contained 2 of the same books (Peter Rabbit hardback and 'my toolbox' with push-out pieces).
Also had a couple of Barbie books (as above, not my son's thing).

The Barbie stuff will be gifted to my two young neices and I'll have spare copies of some colouring books.

Unlucky, maybe I was lucky

I ordered 5 bundles
2 Children (upto 5 & 6-9) total RRP £112 (15 of the 20 had a RRP of £4.99 or £3.99)
Fiction - RRP £74
2 Non Fiction, Total RRP £200

Quite happy with the selection, a couple of repeats, not bad for £35 plus P & P for a combine RRP of nearly £400

Hmm.. ..fair enough.

I just did some quick maths. It's been a while since I did any stats and (obviously) the sample is far too small to be meaningful but..

For the RRP to be £112, the average price of the books would have to be over £11.
Given that of the 30 books I received, not a single one was priced over £10 this seems unlikely. The only way to up the average price would be to include a small number of very highly valued books. How many children's books (age <5) have you seen that RRP for £20 and more?

I simply don't believe the quoted RRP of £112 on childrens books to be correct.

I would like to be proven wrong though, I don't like being a cynical old git.

He said he'd bought 2 bundles of children's books that is 20 books, not 10.

Edit: Or do you mean the claims on the website (didn't see those myself). I'd agree that it's unlikely the kids bundle had an rrp of 112 for 1 bundle.

Have to say I am very impressed with the company's service. Two of the paperbacks I received were damaged, and so I emailed them. They phoned up today and offered me a choice of replacement.
