Stupid question, I bought sky a few months back and ever since I've been searching for the Sky Sports Update Channel I used to have on Freeview!
Any ideas where I can find it on my Sky+?
What do you mean by Sky Sports Update Channel, do you mean Sky Sports News, if so it is channel 405.

I thought it was called summing else on freeview but I checked and you're right, sorry my mistake. Gutting thing is that the cheeky ppl want a subscription off me! I had it free before I bought Sky (summin wrong there isn' there really. Sky are extremely loyal to their subscribers!).
Will they not show the Saturday goals on MOTD2 tonight?

First place I checked :( you would have thought that would make perfect sense...but as usual, the BBC know best.

I think you could be right, but only the goals and not hightlights.

Also, not sure why but the Sunday morning showing is not the same as the Saturday night one - it's edited down for Sunday.

Think the BBC's highlight package only allows them to show the goals on MOTD (sat & sun). And the sunday morning show is edited down so its just highlights without the analysis because apparently thats what people wanted on sunday mornings. Big hangover, less talking, more football ;)

The Saturday Goals will be shown on MOTD2 on BBC2 tonight, but it will be just the goals, you wont get any highlights. There will be highlights of all the sunday games today as well on the programme.
Do Sky Sports Not Show a Football Special of all the goals and highlights later tonight???

You've had two oppotunities to see last nights MOTD. Normal Saturday night slot, which you could of recorded, or this mornings edited version. If you are not organised enough to catch or record one of them...tough ****! Don't go blaming the BBC.

Harsh but fair
Just catch the goals on MotD2.

I pay an inflated TV licence, I dont have a VCR, a PVR, nor media centre on my computer, thus have no means to record it. I also was at work last night, continuing onto this morning, leaving me with no opportunity to watch it. So, if I wish to moan about the BBC, I will do so, and I pay for that pleasure.
So accusing me of not being organised enough to watch them is all fine and dandy from your Ivory Tower, sitting there with PVR's and VCR's coming out of your earholes...I expect the BBC at least to provide this on "catch up" as its one of their more popular shows.
Congratulations for the eloquent and well presented argument though - well done.
To be fair you could take that argument to the next level by saying that you haven't switched to digital yet, so making it available via the red button isn't enough, and that they should have continuous repeats on BBC2.
When a freeview/pvr box is available for less than fifty notes there's no excuse to not have one IMO.
And no VCR? Think of the poor people who'd have loved to have watched it but don't own a TV!

does the iplayer service have it?
I hate the scheduling of MOTD - always miss it due to beers, both on the Saturday night and the Sunday morning due to hangover. Wish they would show the Sunday one a bit later in the morning!
Still, MOTD2 is excellent, so I'll forgive them.

I hate the fact it isn't live...but he ho!!!!
I am happy that I can view a quality program on a Saturday Night. Or set the recorder to ...well...record it! Or ask a my PC to using the TV card and hard drive to record it.

 in your first post you said you couldn't believe you fell asleep?
at work???
sorry to hear your tv licence has been inflated and you don't pay the normal licence fee like the rest of us do, but maybe the extra you pay is for the pleasure of moaning!

Night shift does that to you here unfortunately :( I was going to watch it online live with their new service.
Caught the goals last nigth on MOTD2, so all is not lost, I still think the way the BBC handle match of the day is atrocious considering the funds at their disposal.

Technology and expectation has changed, better phrased as 'evolved'....other services are available for other channels and TV shows, I just think the BBC need to look at how they handle MotD.

What, and give up the opportunity to bitch about the BBC on an internet forum???
Seriously though - you can get a VCR at Argos (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-582776-5472106?url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5333772.htm) for £35, possibly cheaper at a supermarket!!
No need to miss MOTD again*!

I agree I probably should move with the times and get a PVR, however it doesnt take from the fact that the BBC should provide greater service regarding MotD. Its one of their flagship programs and gets no repeats (discounting Sun morning cut version), nor has the option for "catch up". Paying the TV licence, I reserve the right to complain about a service I think they are missing a trick on.

If you're upset about the BBC coverage just wait until ITV get their grubby mits on it.

So have you complained to the BBC about it, or just come on here and complained about it to us??
There is also a Premiership goals/highlights service available here (http://www.virginmedia.com/sport/football/match-highlights.php) too!
By the way, there is an extra MOTD on this week - Wednesday night at 10:40pm, on BBC1 - Don't fall asleep!!!!!

as an Everton fan, I should complain that we are always shown last with the least amount of highlights.
and yes, I have an idea why but it's still annoying

I don't think it is a flagship, at all. Footy on the telly is a minority interest now. The days of MOTD getting 20 million are long gone. It does well to get a (quite unnecessary) repeat at all.
Just be done with it and get a recorder, which, to put in context, will cost less than a single match ticket.
I think the only reason for a repeat is for the kids as most of them who love football can not stay up till midnight so they stick it on early on Sunday.
Mr Majestik
14-08-2007, 08:42
Think the BBC might be contracly obliged to get the repeat out of the way before Sky Sports get to do thier highlights show on Sunday morning.

14-08-2007, 20:09
Are you guys sure the repeat is cutdown? If it is they don't cut much out - it was on for 90 mins last Sunday.. :suspect:
I don't know about this season but last year the Sunday morning show was definitely cut down.
I don't think they cut it any more.
Not sure if it was last season or the one before, but at one time they used to add extra reports to it on a Sunday.
