I have found the Panasonic home cinema system (multiregion) for £322 & am considering buying it from http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-panasonic-sc-ht70-scht70-system-multi-region-dvd-player.html.
Does anyone have this player? I want to know if it's any good. I'm not really interested in paying more than this price. I am just looking for a basic system but don't know much about DVD players so don't know if this player is resonable good.
Also, what is the VCD quality like on such a system compared to a video recording? I know there is no comparision between DVD & VCD but is there an improvement compared to video in terms of sound & vision if it is a good rip?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Bear in mind Techtronics prices don`t include VAT :) Also, Might be worth checking out Comet and Dixons as they have the r2 version of the HT70 for £299 in the sales, might work out cheaper to buy it from them and have it modded locally :D
Example if you use the DVD times / forum offer and bring it in or send it to us its £25 modded plus return:)
As for better systems, unless you are prepared to spend £500ish on something along the lines of a Sony DAVS500 or Pioneer NSDV77 then you won`t get anything much better. Just remember the panasonic has no DTS decoding facility.

Thanks Justin, I didn't notice that the prices don't include VAT which brings it up to £380. Think I'll wait a few more weeks before taking the plunge then..............
Also, the Dixons/Comet/Currys sale has ended & they've put all their prices back up. The player has gone back up t £400 there.

Try Sound & Vision - Currently advertising it for £249.
The new advert in Home Cinema Choice magazine has it in the sale section.

Just a note the service CD won`t give it MP3

its not going to play a branching region 2 when you come across
