Theres a fair difference in price between them! For the price of the DAVS800 you could probably get the Pioneer with the optional matching minidisc deck:) All depends on your requirments, but I`d probably say consider the Sony 500 instead, as all the extra money really buys on the 800 is the aluminium speakers & stands and a few more watts :) Also consider the Pioneer HC50 seperates system that has the DVD444, as the picture quality from this will be better then the all in ones above as it offers RGB out via scart.

Get a demo and see which sounds best for you.
