Now confirmed transfer to Sheffield Utd.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a waste and that he should have been snapped up by a Prem club?

Villa were after him a couple of years ago but he chose Everton but if we had gone in for him this time I would not have been upset.

He's been mediocre since he left Southampton, hardly surprising no one in the premier league wanted him.

He's finished at the top level till he rediscovers some appetite for football rather than pies

Yup, seems to me he's kinda wasted a very promising top-flight career. Some players work, and work, then work some more on developing their technical skills, their footballing brain, and their bodies. Ronaldo is the prime example. He has worked hard and improved every area of his game. The guy looks like friggin' Bruce Lee. Beattie doesn't seem to have been doing too much of this the past 2-3 years.

No because he is nothing more than an average player who might just find that playing at a lower level is more suited to him.

Soton did well selling him for they did as he only had a good 6 month's in his time there.

One season wonder, touted at the time as 'the next Shearer' and as such linked with a biG money move to Newcastle at the time - thanks god we didn't go for him!!
