Hi there,

doing a dogs in pop round for a quiz next week -

just wondered if anyone can help me out with suggestions of songs with dogs in them, or maybe any doggy pop stars, or famous dog pets to pop stars.

can we avoid the misogony route?

thanks for your help!

A couple of questions for you gratis! :)

Q: Who had a hit single in 2005 with a cover of Kate Bush's 'Hounds of love'?
A: Futureheads

For a bonus point...
Q: Which version was more successful on the chart?
A: Futureheads reached #8, Kate Bush's original only reached #18.

Q: Who let the dogs out?
A: Baha Men

For a bonus point...
Q: To date, how many film soundtracks has the song been featured on?
A: Five (imdb is wrong as it doesn't include 'Rugrats In Paris')!

Q: Which pop hunk starred in the film 'Alpha Dog'?
A: Justin Timberlake

Some other dog songs:

Dog Eat Dog - Adam & The Ants
Dogs - The Who
Doggy Dogg World / Tha Doggfather / Snoop Dogg - Snoop Doggy Dogg

"Martha, My Dear" from the White Album is about McCartney's Old English sheepdog.

On Sgt. Pepper, the Beatles put a tone at the end of the record that only dogs could hear.

You could also get something in about Nipper, the HMV logo.

"Dog Man Star" was the acclaimed 2nd album by Suede. But which infamous documentary filmmaker is the title a nod to?

"Dog on Wheels" was the debut EP by ... ?"

There are quite a lot of users that start threads with a question then never acknowledge any of the replies.

...don't forget the classic Iggy + The Stooges song "I Wanna Be Your Dog".

You could also go for the comedy angle with pop singers who sound like the names people give their dogs, e.g.

Prince
Rufus Khan (as in Rufus + Chaka Khan)
Gnarls Barkley

Okay I've run out now...
