View Full Version : Speaker Stands that would suit Videologic DTS surround speakers?
I have just purchased one of the £250 Tiny Videologic DTS kits, and was wondering which speaker stands would be idea for this. Only need for the rear surround speakers., and I'd say £35 would be an absolute max.
Thanks.
(PS: I thought DTS was 6.1, but how is this as the Videologic set only comes with 5 speakers?)

I thought the 4 surround and centre were 5 and the subwoofer was the .1? Besides, how is that different from Dolby Digital which is supposed to be 5.1? That has exactly the same amount of speakers hasnt it?
Try IKEA if you have one local. £15 for a pair of tall ones and £12 for shorter. Silver coloured metal with funky concrete bases.

A DD and DTS setup will look exactly the same. They both have 5.1 channels.
The differences are the encoding/decoding method, DD is cleverer and the bit rate, DTS is larger. Most people think that DTS is better than DD but some of us think that DD can be as good it's just that studios concentrate more on the DTS track.
It's an on-going debate

Anyboady got any pictures of these? My nearest Ikea is Neasden which is about 40 mins by tube, so I just wanna make sure it isnt a wasted journey! Price looks good though.
Haven't any pics but there is two sizes. The bigger one is about 3ft high and just right for rears. They have a concrete base which is 150-200mm square. Four silver thin poles come out of base and attach to metal speaker plinth. You can run your speaker wire up inside one of the hollow poles. There are holes in the plinth to screw in your speakers but I have just stuck them down with sticky pads.
If you have a IKEA catalogue they are in there, TV stand pages I think. Other than that how about checking the IKEA website at www.ikea.co.uk. Hope this helps.
EDIT just found this pic and it has the speaker stands in question:) Click here (http://www.ikea.co.uk/rooms_ideas/livingroom/livingroom_entertainment.asp?page=4) for enlightenment.
Thanks very much for all your help guys. Looks like I am paying a visit to Ikea this weekend!
